I watched the World Cup and European Cup and saw the flat 4-4-2 become obsolete against formations such as 4-3-3 and 4-2-3-1, people have also said the this is the worst Man Utd to ever win the title and the only Premiership teams last year I would actively watch would be Blackpool and Arsenal.

From a Derby prespective, it is not a considence that our best football came from the 4-2-3-1 formation and the worst football was the 4-4-2 "survival football" we seem to play everytime we hit bad form.

The 4-4-2 was probably the best formation to have in the 90s but now its flaws and showing when you see Barcelona play the 4-3-3 and when Spain, Holland and Germany used the 4-2-3-1 in the World Cup.

Look at how Blackpool played, Ian Holloway used to always be a 4-4-2 man, but after looking at foreign coaching techniques switch to a 4-3-3, which interchanged to a 4-3-2-1 and look at how well they have done in the past 2 years!

Hasn't 'Dion Dublin' already got a 'connect 4' diagonally?!?!. Still....He seems happy enough.

Anyway:

GK Fielding

RB Brayford

LB Roberts

CB Barker

CB Shackell

CM Bryson

CM Bailey

RM Cywka

LM Ward

AM Maguire

ST Tyson

Tyson will have to hit the ground running and Maguire/Bryson be able to adapt quickly to the league. Shackell also has to prove to do a better job than Ayala did. Cywka playing like we know he can and Ward continuing his form from last season. Get a decent LB and 1 or 2 decent 'proper' loan signings........Come on already season!!!

First game of the season will see Frank Fielding make his first game for Derby in over 5 months, with the likely pair at full back in John Brayford and Gareth Roberts, the captain Shaun Barker will most likely be injured so will be replaced by new signing Chris Riggott who will make his first appearance in the black and white in 7 years, he will be partnered by the new boy from Barnsley Jason Shackell, in midfield we will see vice captain John Eustace sat deep, again not his first game as a Derby player but hopefully will look a totally different player altogether, he will be supported by new signing Craig Bryson and last season young player of the year James Bailey, the head of the attacking three will be big money signing from Leicester Martyn Waghorn who will be eager to prove his worth infront of the big pride park faithful, to the left of him will be Nathan Tyson, who will be playing after coming off an impressive pre-season and a point to prove to the pride park faithful and on the other side of Waghorn will be last seasons loan star Jamie Ward, leaving the formation something along the lines.

----------------------------------Fielding

Brayford------------Riggott------------------Shackell-------------Roberts

----------------------------------Eustace

----------------------Bryson------------------Bailey

----------Ward-------------------------------------------Tyson

----------------------------------Waghorn

If not that, something very similar.

Didn't someone say we played 4-2-3-1 at Reading? I was there but can't remember.

Unless he doesn't mean it quite as literally, but just the later stages, which we played a fair bit of 4-3-3..

You listened to it with your new access all areas of the DCFC site password?
