Remaining fixtures

At the start of each season, we're told that (most) managers go through the fixture list and decide which games they're going to get points from. By my reckoning we've got 18 games left, so a total of 54 points up for grabs. Those 18 games are :-

Portsmouth - A

Leicester - H

Ssausagehorpe - A

Hull City - H

Sheffield Utd - A

Doncaster - H

Barnsley - H

Middlesborough - A

Swansea - H

Crystal Palace - A

Cardiff City - A

Coventry City - H

Leeds United - H

QPR - A

Burnley - H

Norwich City - A

Bristol City - H

Reading - A

Which games do you think we'll pick up points from, and how many? Where do you think it'll leave us at season's end?

I'm not going to post my own predictions as they make pretty grim reading, and I'm actually looking for something to cheer me up!

On current form the orange ones are draws and the green one a win.

I'm not sure 50 would keep us up. It's not unheard of for teams to go down with 53. We need 54 points I reckon.

True Leicester went down with 52. Last two seasons though the bottom 3 have all got less than 50. Guess it depends how bad the teams below us are as well.

I have gone statto mad but here it is using the form guide our form is currently:

Home - Won 1, Drawn 1, Lost 4

Away - Won 1, drawn 0, lost 5

Portsmouth - A (Pompey not won at home in last 6 games, have drawn 3) draw

Leicester - H (Won 2 of last 6 away from home, drawn 1) lose

Ssausagehorpe - A (not won at home in last 6, drawn 1) win

Hull City - H (Won 3, drawn 3 away) lose

Sheffield Utd - A (won 2 drawn 1 at home) draw

Doncaster - H (won 1, drawn 2 away) win

Barnsley - H (won 2, drawn 1 away) draw

Middlesborough - A (Won 2, drawn 3 at home) lose

Swansea - H (won 2, drawn 1 away) draw

Crystal Palace - A (won 3, drawn 3 at home) lose

Cardiff City - A (won 3, drawn 2 at home) lose

Coventry City - H (won 1, drawn 1 away) win

Leeds United - H (won 1, drawn 4 away) draw

QPR - A (won 4, drawn 1 at home) lose

Burnley - H (won 2, drawn 1 away) draw

Norwich City - A (won 4, drawn 1 at home) lose

Bristol City - H (won 0, drawn 2 away) win

Reading - A (won 2, drawn 4 at home) draw

That's more positive than I thought. All rubbish though but passed the time on an unscheduled day off work.

To be fair I've been a little generous. For example Sheffield Utd at home could easily be a loss instead of a draw, Doncaster a draw instead of a win. The form of us and then is so close it's hard to tell. But our form against the bottom half of the table is better than theirs so I went for the better result.

That prediction of 19 points puts us on 53. Less than last season but surely enough to survive.

When do BBC put up their prediction page form the rest of the season? That's like Christmas for me.

Portsmouth - 1

Leicester - 1

Ssausagehorpe - 0

Hull City - 1

Sheffield Utd - 0

Doncaster - 3

Barnsley - 3

Middlesborough - 1

Swansea - 0

Crystal Palace - 0

Cardiff City - 0

Coventry City - 3

Leeds United - 1

QPR - 0

Burnley - 0

Norwich City - 0

Bristol City - 3

Reading - 0

Total 17, scary thing is that will put us on 51 which is 5 points behind last season and would of finished 21st.

I will comfort myself in the knowledge that I'am crap at prediction and the loan window opens again next week.

Oh dear. 14pts, and a relegation certainty. Coupled with a run of 6 defeats to finish on. Hope to god I'm wrong, but NC wouldn't survive that I don't think.

Only now am I worrying about relegation - hadn't thought it remotely possible until I did that list.

15 Points and the distinct possiblity that we be 2 divisions away from Florist. Given the run in we will get to Boro and think we are safe only to plummet down the league. Looks like we need to start winning now because later wil be too late

With confidence so low i'll go for wins;

Hull (h) Sheff Utd (a) Coventry (h) Bristol City (h)

Draws;

Portsmouth (a) Barnsley (h) Swansea (h)

The rest make me feel a bit nervous. Ofcourse a couple of good results and if the confidence gets we're easily good enough to get more points.

At our best we look a top side. At our worse we look a mediocre mid - lower table side

I'd usually come up with the arguement, anyone can beat anyone, therefore we can realistically beat anyone.. However, there are games in there we simply won't win..

Pompey, Scunny, Hull, Sheff Utd, Donny, Barnsley, Palace, Coventry, Burnley, Bristol City and an already garuanteed playoff spot Reading are all winnable games..

However, we just don't look like winning away, so that rules out 5 of the winnable games.. I see us getting at least 5 wins from that, plus 3 or 4 draws which leaves us around 53/54. We'll stay up don't worry, but simply because we are better than Scunny, Preston, Palace and Sheff Utd IMO.
