It's going to get Messi in the MLS

Feels like the end of a second era for me in football.

The first era was growing up watching the likes of Beckham, Giggs, Scholes, Vieira, Henry, Zidane, Ronaldinho, Ronaldo, Del Piero, Nedved etc. Players who were peak between 95-06 all retired pretty much by 2010.

And this second era of Messi, Ronaldo, Benzema, Xavi, Iniesta, Pique, Aguero, Suarez, Schweinsteiger, Robben, Drogba to name a few who were all peak around 2007 - 2018 and now pretty much retired.

Hard to see beyond Mbappe, Haaland, Bellingham, Camavinga and Saka dominating the next decade.

Ticket prices have gone up over $400 a ticket already.

Reportedly getting stakes in Adidas merchandise and Apple TV MLS league pass too. He’s going to be well compensated outside of the salary cap they have.

The next Copa America and World Cup are hosted in the US too. I’m not sure if he has actually retired from international football, but those are also little things that would have helped his decision.

Plus the fact that Miami has a huge Latin culture and he already owned a home there.
