Duracell
A jail sentence is OTT, but at the same time, allowing them to play cricket in a few years time is not punishment enough. The punishment should be a ban from the game for life, in any form at all.

Butt should get the biggest sentence, he started it, then the agent, then the others accordingly.

BorneoRam
Absolutely, especially given that all of them have alluded to the fact that match fixing is rife in the game but are then refusing to give names. The agent said he was not the big boss but refused to say who was - he also said that Butt and 1 other player was the ringleader but again refused to identify the person. The players have already said that they were approached by fixers but refused to say who. Only 1 of the players put his hands up and accepted he'd done wrong and apologise - if they were truly sorry then they would work to eradicate it from the game not try to protect the wrongdoers - I would assign a jail sentence and so you have a bargaining chip, i.e. the sentence can be reduced in return for cooperation....
