Spectre - James Bond

Went to see this tonight, when the missus said she wanted to take me out I assumed it was the pub, actually wanted to take me to see Martian which I wanted to watch but didn't start to 8.40pm, miss the football completely.

Anyhow, yeah......10 minutes in a guy starts full on snoring till his missus sausageted him, think he had the best idea.

Telling the security guard no, stay and we know what c stands for was the highlight of the film. The rest was your typical Bond cheese fest where you come out the film and have nothing to really say, well yeah, that was...erm...Bond.

Only seen it today. Disappointing.

Mostyn's review is basically spot on. I didn't really like Skyfall as much as everyone else but that was vastly superior to this one in every single way from the song to the storyline.

Christoph Waltz is one of my favourite actors currently and Blofeld is probably the definitive Bond villain, but he seemed grossly underused in this film, appearing in only 2 or 3 lengthy scenes whilst relative nobody's like Q and Money Penny seemed to be in every other scene.

I like Craig, probably 2nd only to Connery for me but he seemed to over play some of the humourous elements in some way. There seemed a lack of any depth to the characters in comparison to Casino Royale and Skyfall which seems rediculous to say for a Bond film but it made me realise how much better the other 2 are than this one in that regard.

There was a good piece of camera work and direction in the opening scene at the Day of the Dead festival where Bond walks out of the window and there is the mass of people below in the streets but that segment excepted, with all of the talk of big budgets, the film felt a bit "hi-fi BBC drama" to me.

It was Bond by numbers and that was a great disappointment given 2 of the last 3 films.

I thought it had many of the elements a classic Bond needs. And maybe that is why it felt short and maybe the standards set by Casino Royale and Skyfall were too high. I'll happily watch it again, that could never be said of Die Another Day...
