AmericanRam Posted July 27, 2014 Posted July 27, 2014 Just watched it for first time.I thought it was a pretty solid film with great actors.I had read pieces of the book before but had never watched the film.Anyone else think its a good watch?
mozza Posted July 27, 2014 Posted July 27, 2014 it's a good watch , would have been better if there was more emphasis on his colossal achievements with the Rams tho . i'll dig it out and watch again sometime..
Boycie Posted July 27, 2014 Posted July 27, 2014 Never realised Clough hid in the changing room all game when we played Leeds. Who knew?
r4derby Posted July 27, 2014 Posted July 27, 2014 I love it just for the end when the narrator refers to Forest as a small team from down the road!!!
RamNut Posted July 27, 2014 Posted July 27, 2014 Never realised Clough hid in the changing room all game when we played Leeds. Who knew? I think that bit is made up.

Tombo Posted July 27, 2014 Posted July 27, 2014 The book is dogshit. Wouldn't wipe my arse with it. The film is fantastic.
Grimbeard Posted July 27, 2014 Posted July 27, 2014 The book is dogshit. Wouldn't wipe my arse with it. The film is fantastic. T'other way round. (apart from wiping me arse with the film, obviously)
RamNut Posted July 27, 2014 Posted July 27, 2014 T'other way round. (apart from wiping me arse with the film, obviously) No i think he was right. I thought the book was poor and the film was poor. So i can't lose.
AmericanRam Posted July 27, 2014 Author Posted July 27, 2014 I have seen better sport movies, but this one was ok I thought.Still better films I have seen is Green Street, even though I really dont like Millwall or West Ham.
Boycie Posted July 27, 2014 Posted July 27, 2014 I think that bit is made up.I imagined so, doubt he begged at Taylor's feet for him to leave Brighton either.
Mafiabob Posted July 27, 2014 Posted July 27, 2014 I have seen better sport movies, but this one was ok I thought.Still better films I have seen is Green Street, even though I really dont like Millwall or West Ham. For a hoolie film watch the original Firm or ID
petersimple Posted July 28, 2014 Posted July 28, 2014 I thought the film was very good. Colm Meaney was perfect as Don Revie. He looked and sounded just like him. That's what you get when you hire top actors. I also thought Michael Sheen got Brian Clough just right. He is another great actor. You could see that a lot of effort had gone in to finding lookalikes for some of the players. That bit set in Majorca - with the sunshine and the atmospheric music - really captured the feeling of escape and relaxation you felt when you got away from England in the 1970s.
Perky1106 Posted July 28, 2014 Posted July 28, 2014 A decent flick but two really annoying things. None of the filming is done in Derby. Halfway through the film were PT shows BC the newspaper it is called the "Derby Chronicle" even despite it being quoted rightly as the "Derby Telegraph" in the book. Just demonstrates laziness and lack of research by the producers really.
