Instead of vuvuzelas and thundersticks.... The sponsors of this page are giving away stallions heads and laundry services....

FAQ number 17.

Are you going to create a thread for every match, or do you want all the predicitons in here?

I have created a separate thread for predictions. I've copied and pasted the fixtures in it, then people can post their predictions at any time (before the games, of course - I will note time stamps). They can post the predictions one at a time, or do all 48 group games at once in advance if they like. We can keep this thread for results / standings / chat / banter / hate mail.

Mo55y, there's now a thread just for 'Predictions'. It will help me a great deal if we keep this thread for banter and have all the predictions in the other place. You've also only posted one FGS (star man that he is)

Nor do I.

The 23 man squads aren't all finalised yet, I don't think.

Also, thanks to whoever pinned the threads.

i'll bet eddies spreadsheet automatically adds up , and puts all predictions in descending order

as the scores/points go into a 'totals' column .

So all he has to do is copy and paste the 'totals'  column ..

i want one of those !!

Can someone do me one ?

(eddie) ;)

Part right.

The spreadsheet matches the player predictions to the matches (by match number), then assigns the points won for that specific game. It's an Open Office spreadsheet as opposed to Microsoft Office. That works ok. It's not too desperately heavy, but when I wrote the following statement containing mixed Boolean logic, dynamic cell referencing and external sheet references:

=IF(I2="Y";IF(AND(C2=INDIRECT("Matches.D"&(1+B2));D2=INDIRECT("Matches.E"&(1+B2)));"Y";"N");"N")

I did have to go for a bit of a lie down.

There is a vba script that does the twiddly bits. I'm still working on some toys for that so that we can have a few stats over and above the current table.

i was lost at the Boolean logic , eddie , (well before that really)   i'd love a copy of the finished item

that  could be adapted for the DCFC  iPL ..

as for Gobo , he's not got back to me yet ..

i can manage fine with the version i have , and am eternally grateful for that (Cheers dav) ;)

I'd be happy to, Mo55y.

Running it through the World Cup would be a decent way of debugging it/identifying what additional features would help. A bolt-on front end application to allow users to enter their own predictions might be a good idea too.

I don't know many (any) players from some teams and i haven't bought a world cup panini sticker book this year. This is going to take some research.

Why wouldnt you get a sticker book?

The highlight of any world cup
