Scotland manager Gordon Strachan watched Craig Forsyth during Derby's 1-0 victory over QPR on Monday evening.

The national team boss was at the iPro Stadium to watch the 24-year-old left-back impress during the victory.

And Scotland's assistant manager, Mark McGhee, confirmed that the player is being monitored.

McGhee said: "We've been watching lads at Derby - not so much Craig Bryson but Craig Forsyth."

Bryson already has two caps for Scotland and has been in recent squads but Forsyth has yet to represent his country.

Derby skipper Richard Keogh did his chances of representing the Republic of Ireland again no harm as well.

Ireland's management team of Martin O'Neill and Roy Keane saw him put in a commanding display against the London club.

lad cant be doing that badly :)

Lots of us are angry Bryson never got picked though. 

Also the fact Fletcher got picked ahead of Watt or May. 

Ignoring Pawlett as well has frustrated a lot of fans. 

 

No one seems to know how good Forsyth or Russell are doing all they're moaning about is that Lee Wallace never got picked. (A guy playing for Rangers in the Scottish League 1! lmao!)

No one seems to know how good Forsyth or Russell are doing all they're moaning about is that Lee Wallace never got picked. (A guy playing for Rangers in the Scottish League 1! lmao!)

 

I get the distinct impression that despite praising Bryson at a recent Scottish get together that Strachan and co have decided that he doesn't fit in.  There's probably very little he can do about it - they won't build a midfield around him and his style of play and he probably can't change how he plays too much

I don't really know a lot about the other players in the squad but the omission of Bryson does seem a little odd.

 

Still he's got a bit of an injury at the moment, so perhaps that's a factor.

 

I'm not complaining - last thing we need is players going away on international duty and getting injured. 

 

It's Scotland's loss, our gain.

If they do we could temporarily lose any Scottish players when the independence comes into effect. 

 

No chance,

 

they're already contracted here - therefore would be safe and sound. It would be troublesome in the future - however, it's not that much of an issue with young Irish players coming over, so I don't know.

 

Probably won't make a difference in anyway

Every squad needs a Bryson. Good, honest, hard working lad that covers more ground than anyone. You won't see him sulking or not chasing the ball or man. Given the age of some of the squad it would be ludicrous if we don't see Bryson, Forsyth and Russel making it within the next 2 years.

Long term no. But there is great uncertainty about what will happen. The UK and Scotland will only have 2 years to sort everything out in time for independence if they vote to leave the union. Far more pressing issues, that take far longer than 2 years to resolve typically.

Pleased Bryson never got in as he seems to be picking up niggling injuries and getting subbed a lot at the moment.

 

Can't complain if it means our lads are getting a week off, even with the caveat that it's disappointing for them on a personal level.
