BREAKING - Hinckley United wound up in High Court

Oct 7 2013 By Emma Ray

HINCKLEY United was officially wound up in the High Court in Birmingham this morning.

The club was put out of existence at the hearing, ending months of speculation on its future.

A statement on the club website said: "Further to the winding up petition issued by the Downes Executive Pension Fund against Hinckley United Football Club Limited, the directors attended the court hearing at Birmingham today where the winding up petition was granted.

"The board would like to thank its supporters, sponsors and shareholders for their support in these sad and difficult times.

"There will be a further statement later today."

Looks like the Downes have been doing a 'Robert Maxwell'

An earlier quote

Leicestershire based Hinckley United are on the brink of extinction after almost 100 years in existence. The club is believed to owe in the region of £200,000 and liquidation looks the likliest outcome.

Pity about the stadium which they built about 5 years ago.
