Is it possible to hire self drive minis buses to away games?

Do you have to book with the police in advance or just turn up to park?

Can beer be drunk on the mini bus?

Use to get a mate to hire a tranny van (when it just meant a Ford transit van) back in my day no seats never mind seatbelts and a few crates of ale, happy days job done.

1. Yes, you can hire self drive mini buses for any day out, racing, footie, stag do's etc..

2. No, park where you want, miles from the ground if you wish.

3. Yes, discreetly!

Any of you owd buggers remember how many vans were at Cambridge first game of the season after relegation in 1980?

That field everyone parked in had everything from Ford Anglia vans (ours!!!), trannies, pick ups and even a furniture removal van.

One of the funniest sights was a group of lads falling out of the back of the removal van blinking in the sunlight then unloading a pub beer garden bench and parasol that they'd borrowed on the way down.

Yeah great day, bit of a wake up call though, didnt we lose 3-0?

I actually enjoyed that season, taking 5,000 to places like Lincoln and Bournemouth.

Getting back in the van after the game and seeing all the beer and god knows what else swilling around in the back.

Can't remember where it was now, but we got stopped going into one town by the Police who wanted to confiscate all our alcohol so we piled all the cans up on the grass verge, probably about 60 of 'em, all empty!

We politely thanked them, got back in the van and drove off!

Yes i was there.

crammed into a completely packed away end , couldn't even get a view of half the pitch

Cambridge police bricking it as we easily outnumbered the home fans.

Singing 'thank you very much for alan biley' and then getting stuffed.

Hardest part - watching mcfarland get absolutely shredded by george o'reilly.

Thinking of parking away from the ground so thats good you dont have to book in with the police.

Once hired a tranny van went to Crystal Palace years ago parked in a street not far from the ground where a mate said he had parked a few years ago with no bother.

After the match the bloody van would not start and we got surrounded by loads of their lads got rescued by the police.Good job it had no side windows or else they would have been smashed in.

Must admit though it was handy going in a works type van you never know when the tools in the van would come in handy to get you out of a tight situation. Happy days.

There were few who used to be capable of giving Roy Mac a game, but the big bruiser type was always a handful. None of this Altafini, Eusebio or Causio nonsense - ask Roy who his most difficult opponent was and you would only get one answer - Frank Large of Northampton (and about a dozen other clubs).

I was really shocked to see anyone give roy a hard time as i was totally in awe of him.

I thought he was totally unbeatable until then.

There was only one other time i saw him getting a hard time - v joe royle when royle was playing for bristol city!

He was a clever striker.
