Another deserved victory for them again. Cant fault what they have done this year, can also see Bamford getting a chance for England if he carries this form on.
Take the petty bitterness out the way and you can't help but be envious of where they are...

Or perhaps we don't think he's worth that gamble and a few million is better to have now, than 'how much for Hughes' later down the line. How much would a 'better contract' at his level cost us afterall?!
A million quid at least ?

Wants to stay but doesn't feel the contract on offer is good enough so doesn't want to sign it?
Which was my point. So many people are saying we had no option, but we don't know what that contract was.
As the above post alludes to, we need the money, had we not then there is a chance that he would have still been a Derby player for years to come. -

Don't think it's about what we want or need, its all about what Kaide wants and needs, feels like he has all the power.
A player in demand always will and I expect that is the root cause of his departure, no doubt.
However my point is that in this instance, it probably suited all parties given where we are with our cash flow.

I cannot accept that Derby having stumbled on a wonder kid would be touting him round to the highest bidder like Del boy . They would offer him a contract to get him signed up and in the first team racking up value as soon as possible. Even more so at the minute . The difference could be 10 million quid in 5 months. Any club buying wouldn't take Derbys word for it anyway. They must have been looking at him for a while based on there own coaches analysis.
What do we need most, guaranteed 1 million now or a possible XX million in a few months / years time ?

We didn't start touting him until he wouldn't sign - that's what I took @Footymum2017's original statement way back when on the Academy thread, when she erroneously wrote 'he didn't want to stay' but meant to put 'he didn't want to sign'.
Possibly, if he is not wanting to sign a contract then what is the difference between that and not wanting to stay. There are of course many reasons for that question, but when cash is at a premium, makes you wonder....

That has been the whole point of most of this thread - why wouldn't he sign it? So we had to make sure we got some return on our investment - as opposed to standard tribunal compensation.
Based on what footymum said, why would he sign it ? What benefit is it to the lad if we are already touting him around in the first place ?

What was the tweet?
It was a tweet about a Leeds player spitting...turns out he was wrong.
Shows how quick people jump on these things though and how they escalate.

Finished watching cobra Kai series 3. Was it good I'm not sure, it's cheesy but addictive at the same time.
Also finished Vikings and the last series, very disappointing and just seemed to fizzle out.

He has been on the bench as we have very little choice.
Liverpool would only loan a youngster to get regular game time. Though thinking about it, they may loan him back to us for the rest of the season re covid.
The way we are going though, nothing is going to chance from our side and we still have very little choice ?

He isn't ready for our first team yet. If we have an agreement that WHEN he is ready for a championship loan we get first option, then fair enough.
Hasn't he been on the bench for two of the last three games ?
Not that I'm saying he is ready, just playing devils advocate in asking the question.

How many of that England Under 16 team from 2013 have you heard off? These are supposed to be the best of the best.
I think I was under 50% with those I've even heard of and none of them have become England players.
By the same means how many of the 2015 team have you heard of....I give you some of the names from that team....
Foden, sessogon, Skipp, Hudson Odi, Sancho, I could go on.
Now at the time how many said Foden was going to be the next best thing, same about Sancho and remind me, how did that turn out ?

Not sure that he would be worth anymore if he had signed a pro contract, it doesn’t change the fact that he’s 16, not even played a full season at u18 and never played an U23 game.
True, but the ceiling I believe is lifted ?

And that is the whole point that we've been chasing around this thread. ?
Probably but not my point which was in reply to a message around 1m not to be sniffed at. In my opinion, he would have been sold no matter what and if that's the philosophy going forward you may as well save yourself 6m a year and close the academy.

I thought he didn't want to sign an offered contract? If that's true we have done well to sell for £1m. Cash flow dictates we need to sell rather than sit and invest. Facts of life with Covid, no fans and lots of bills. We are not a PL club and we have no parachute payments.
I think that was an ITK, that was later retracted as being badly worded.
Even if that was the case, yes 1m for a player that doesn't want to sign is an ok deal in those circumstances because we can do no more. 1m though for a player we are selling to balance the books IMO is not even if I understand that the current position requires it.

People on the thread was saying £1 Million is not sufficient.
I think it is because statistically speaking, he's unlikely to actually ever make the grade and become a player of value.
We're also a selling club and we're in a buyers market right now. Anyone who has money to spend, fair play to them, because you'll get some cracking deals at the moment.
Statistically speaking on a grade that is going to represent England and PL ? Based on the number of players that have gone to leave out academy for that amount, how many have for example gone on to make an appearance for a PL club ?
Is 1m sufficient ? Based on what level he is at today, based upon how much money we have put into the academy and how much time and effort we have put into the player ? There is a reason why several PL clubs are tracking him and willing to pay that amount is based upon his potential, same as Sterling for example.
For me it's not about statistics, if that was the case why have an academy, why plough several million per year into it ?
Yes we are a selling club, still doesn't mean 1m is a good deal for us.

And if he doesn't actually want to sign pro terms with us, what other option do we have?
I don't think £1 Million is bad business especially if there are plenty of additional fees linked.
How often do these star players at this age actually go on and become stars. 1 in 50 chance?
Go back ten years and find an England Under 21 team. I would guess most are not longer playing Prem Football.
Go back ten years and find an England Under 16 team and see how many are are playing Prem football? I bet none are.
In fact - here you go - this is from 2013 England under 16's - how many have become stars? I think 3 are in the Premiership today and none of them have played for England. Three quarters of them I don't even know.

Has it been said then that he doesn't want to sign pro terms, missed that one, the only bits I have really seen, which one again I take with a punch of salt, is that we are selling him to pay for wages of other players ?
Maybe I also missed the bit where we are in the PL, let alone discussing playing for England? So I'm not sure the relevance of the above, we are already talking about JK for example being touted to go for several million, he is 3 years older. What does 1m get you these days in terms of a replacement players good enough to play in the championship ?
Additional fees fair enough, but once again go back to my original comment which is around 1m being an amount not to be sniffed at, which is what I was discussing, not really if he is good enough to play for England or in the PL.

Really?
Delap looks good in the Man City stiffs, and he’s played a few first team cup games, and scored. But, there’s no set rule that 16 year olds will kick on and perform at a higher level. The league’s been littered with wonder kids over the years.Lets not forget where we are in the pecking list.
1 million for unproven talent isn’t to be sniffed at. Don’t forget we bought many a player who got injured and were never the same again. Let alone money going to their heads.
Im not saying these lads are money mad, but let’s not forget we are still a small fish in the big pond.
Its not 1 million profit though is it. We have spent so much money on our academy and spent a lot of time and effort on this kid alone, let alone the cash side. What's the point of an academy if your attitude is, well he might not make it anyway let's sell him at the first opportunity.

The i5 is not intels state of the art processor any more and AMD have been getting slightly better results, with better prices, on the Ryzen chips.
So it looks to me like the somewhat higher cost of the bigger screen is being offset by putting a cheaper i5 chip in.
On balance I'd be leaning towards the second one. If your son's genuinely using it on lap then 15 in is plenty of screen. So he'll get a slightly better visual experience with the faster AMD chip. (although the GPU is the same, the AMD will be passing more instructions more quickly so should on balance look "better" in high action animation).
And there's a few Bob beer money for dad..... ?
Might be a bit warm for the lap given the temps the GPU reportedly runs at ?

Mainly gaming I reckon. Minecraft, fortnite, basic coding...
I'm pretty sure there are plenty more people with expertise in this area than me, but it looks sufficient for what you need it for, if that's basic gaming.
For me it's good value for what you are getting, but you wouldn't be running some of the latest games in maximum settings.

Can anyone advise on this gaming laptop?
https://www.acer.com/ac/en/GB/content/series/nitro5
It's literally half the price of most gaming laptops but I'm only looking for a starter one for my kid (he's only 10 but has just got into coding - I know nothing about any of this).
Is this a decent buy for a starter or is it junk?
Which model ? Although for a starter they should all be sufficient.
If he wants it for coding, then that's also different from gaming, he will be using the keyboard a lot so worth considering, but if also wants it for gaming as well, the different story.

They got the same result at Man City a couple of weeks ago. Not sure how much credit Allardyce deserves for today's result.
I do not know if you joking or not ? In the last 4 meetings with Liverpool at anfield, they have lost none.
Not sure what getting a draw ar Man City has to do with it...

Yup, my lad is a year older with his birthday in the same period and his age group is U8s. Although he is also eligible for U9s which is the level he plays at, except for Derby....
Not at all confusing ?
