  1. I see the promotion bonus has been raised in article. Mentioned it last year as it's an often overlooked cost amongst the others. When we were promoted in 07 the set promotion bonus was 500k a player, even for those out on loan who hadn't kicked a ball. Probably talking close to double that now, plus wage increase on a large squad on promotion. Don't know how many players they retained but they didn't seem to shift many other than loans going back. Not really an unusual scenario in that regard as the Taylors of the world will happily sit on a final year on 7 times the money of joining Wycombe earlier. Fat end of 30 million regardless.
  2. I'm not sure about the value of signing a player who a League 2 club have loaned to another League 2 club. This sort of thing gives me Blackman vibes.
  3. Good news is they've invested heavily over the last 2 yrs to get Cat 1 status. If it goes Pete Tong, they'll bring the wonderkids in . Oh actually...https://www.dcfc.co.uk/fixtures/results/2023/12/23/nottingham-forest-v-u18
  4. What happened to O'Brien for 12 million. I assume Marinakis is using him as a beanbag.
  5. Why I don't understand wasting wages on Loach, that could have gone to another player we missed out on when wages had little wiggle room
  6. Happy New Year. Cheer yourselves up, https://www.smallheathalliance.com/list.php?1
  7. We didn't have a player like Waghorn to hold the ball up and constantly recycled it by hoofing it away and giving them possession from the 81st minute. That was a difference.
  8. I assume Fornah should fit that equation. He's pedestrian either way.
  9. Only 13 game in 2 years prior to this one, so he hardly plays it seems. Don't know if he's a regular now.
  10. They turned down 2 million offers over the last year so I don't think that's a goer. Quite like Bayliss at Shrewsbury when I've seen him. Quick, tidy and gets a few goals. He also seems to irritate the opposition which we need more of
  11. A draw today was pivotal for autos I think as the few teams above us will have the beating of every team. That will be a huge boost to them. A very physical side like Stevenage could upset them but that's the same with all 4.
  12. That was abhorrent defending albeit fell lucky. When are we selling Bird. That holding on to the ball when he had two options summed him up. A truly dismal 90 of poor decision making, shooting, tracking players, winning the ball and finding space from him but it's Hourihane holding him back I hear. Glad he went off at 45 as it showed it clearly has nothing to do with him. Would have taken a draw as for me it's been us, Bolton and Peterborough for the top 2 for a while. Them and Bolton won't drop many points. A red card isn't it for deliberate handball ?
  13. Swift set of studs to the shin at full pelt.? Works wonders
  14. Mendez Laing needs to do more covering although it's not his favourite job, Bird is totally lost, Wilson effective going forward but huge switch offs on that side defensively. Only one result here without more physicality in midfield and ball retention. We're making them look better than they are by not pressing enough or picking up overlapping players.
  15. WD40 required. Perhaps that's why he's standing 3 yards away from anyone he's facing up and no chasing back on those who turn him. Either he doesn't know what his job is or he can't be arsed.
  16. I'd have started Ward today out wide probably. Former club and more first time crosses. They wouldn't be keen on it
  17. I've no objection to him moving. He did his time when others fecked off. The price however, was terrible.
  18. We beat Southampton away comfortably, held our nerve in the penalties at home and beat West Brom in the final with no contentious decisions after finishing above both in the normal season . No flukes
  19. Surely not. I kept reading he wasn't pulling up any trees, didn't get any goals and those constant MOTM awards for Ireland didn't count as they were cack, despite having 10 premier league and championship players in the same side. 1.7 million was a great deal for us. Honest, we had their pants down.
