  1. Listing the stadium as an asset of community value (ACV) isn't perfect (as we found out when MM sold the stadium to himself!) but it is a safeguard for the future. We are very pleased that the Club has supported our application. We are in good hands with our current owner (but we might not always be!)
  2. All great experience for Brown. Make him hungry for success.
  3. Trip to Wembley for Brown, then. Pleased for him, some players don't get that in their career.
  4. I rate McAndrew over Stepien Iwumene. Is the latter still on trial? I didn't realise Ben Ratcliffe had been out for quite so long. He looked really promising pre-season.

    Timi Max Elsnik

Tbf, at the time Elsnik had been going through a bad run of injuries, which I think contributed. These have settled down and he's been able to build strength and form since then. I've always been a fan and still follow his career. Would he even want to come back to us now? Probably not.
  6. Yes, only watched from 38th minute, and he made three in that short time. He might be a bit disappointed with their opener, though. 1 - 1 at half time.
  7. I think whether a Club gets a generic kit or a bespoke one is more to do with the size of their fanbase than where they are in the Leagues. We will be able to demonstrate fairly impressive sales figures to any potential new supplier, enough to incorporate our own ideas.
  8. I don't know the best place to post this, but atmosphere is a big part of these last few games, imo. Popside fanatics are doing a great job alongside Nick with increasing the visual displays - we even had flags away at Pompey! Of course, this all costs money, so if anyone appreciates the displays and can help by chipping in a small amount, here's the link.
  9. So long as he sticks with a back four, and plays Smith and Ward rather than Bradley and Hourihane, we will be fine. At Northampton we started with both Bradley and Hourihane, Ward and Blackett Taylor were only subs. We also have Collins back instead of Washington/Waggy.
  10. What's any of that got to do with Derby County? You were warned by more discerning posters it would be a Radio Derby announcement and indeed it was.
  11. Or anyone else (except obviously @DavesaRam! )
  12. Forget young player, isn't Cashin one of the highest rated defenders of any age in League One?
  13. Lots of questions there! Yes, a bit weaker, as you say, it's about the amount of money available. Despite some opposition fans' views, we have spent virtually no money on our team, instead picking up players with something to prove, often following injury. This has worked better for some than others, and is partly the reason for our lengthy injury list again now. We've bought a mix of players to get us out of League One, and a few with potential to deliver in the Championship - Ward, Wilson, Blackett Taylor, Adams (if we can persuade him to stay as only on loan). I think our current squad would have been top six last year but possibly not top two. We've definitely strengthened in some key areas for the type of football Warne wants us to play. Like you, though, we would have to strengthen big time if we went up - and let some of our older players go. Luckily, most are out of contract anyway. I always felt we would play football against you, regardless of conditions, because you do too. It's the teams who set up to spoil the game we struggle against at times. So, to answer your final question, I do think teams are playing up against us, home and away. We are a big club with a proud history like yourselves and for some teams they could only have dreamed of playing us even a few seasons ago. We also have a stadium those fans love to come to, but we have seen some awful gamesmanship by some teams against us, that completely spoils the match as a spectacle. Give me a good, honest, end to end competition against you or Blackpool anyday, even with the threat of us losing, than watch the Shrewsburys, Wycombes, of this league.
  14. Got his own song already. Blimey! Max Bird still hasn't got one and probably never will now. Pleased for Brown, though. Hope he's leading our line in a couple of seasons.
  15. This, for me, is the problem. There are so many threads to post in, I wish that match day threads could just be about the game. Then I could ignore all the other dross elsewhere. (Including this post, which I wouldn't have made if the matchday thread hadn't been taken over yet again.)
  16. Can't underestimate the conditions they played in, either. As well as the rain the wind was swirling around, making judgement of bounce and pace so difficult. We were ten rows back and still wet through. The touchlines were borderline unplayable and I did fear it might be called off at times during the first half. Luckily the rain eased off enough to continue.
  17. Too bloody right! Still buzzing from last night. What a disappointing read this thread has been.
  18. After a lovely morning, the rain has set in. Bring a brolly, folks!
