  1. Yes, I've seen comments on that. Tbf, it's a long stand with not very good acoustics and our end was pretty quiet. Maybe the commentary team were nearer the singers.
  2. Not trawled through all the matchthread (gave up around p40) but I think last night was a game that has summed up our season. Take both those early chances and we would have been celebrating another "get the job done" win and admiring a disciplined second half defensive performance. But we all know to score two, we need six chances, not just two or three. To create six chances, we need the football to flow. Ward makes that happen in recent games. He's injured, so we replace that role with Collins, playing out of position. He's a striker, not a midfielder. We leave Tommo on the bench, who would have been the natural link between our deep sitting midfield two and the attack, would have been available for the pass from Wilson and Sibley (who were both desperately looking for feet to play into and finding no-one there) and who can press and harry just as well as Collins. Warne needed to select either Washington or Collins, not both, and play an attacking midfielder. If he doesn't rate Thommo, he could have put Hourihane in there. He didn’t, and we faltered. I wish Warne would stop trying to create new systems and patterns and just do the simple stuff sometimes. Footballers are a bit simple too. They play instinctively in patterns that are ingrained from an early age. Take them out of their natural positions, play them in different systems and they have to think more quickly in order to be successful. It fails more than it works. Add in the factor that our forwards aren't world beaters, we need to be giving them all the help we can to play their natural games. I think we were one player choice away from that routine win last night. So disappointing.
  3. He'd at the very least have started a few chants last night. Away end was well below par (a bit like our attack!)
  4. I thought it was the referee breaking the tempo of the game rather than the two sides. Seemed to take forever to get a free kick or corner going, lecturing and issuing warnings about holding, where the ball was placed, counting out his ten yards and ushering players about. Ponderous.
  5. 1.26 am just got home after numerous road closures and diversions. It's hard work sometimes.
  6. Wycombe 1 - 2 Rams FRGS Mendez-Laing
  7. Let's just hope he's not full of Eid sweet treats! The sugar rush is something else.
  8. That's interesting and I do wonder why that appears to be so for a lot of people. I found the administration very worrying, and I suppose I've just been celebrating us having a team to support ever since. I also know that very few teams "succeed" in the strict definition of getting promoted/winning something, so there are a lot more teams who are losers than there are winners.
  9. I don't believe in curses. I just thought it was odd that no-one has posted it. A well-deserved nomination for both of them, imo. @HorsforthRam, I know they are just nominations, it says so in the first sentence!
  10. I love watching the coverage of Bundesliga games, where the diehards are at each end of the ground, and the middle sections have fans of both teams chatting, shaking hands etc. I wonder if they ever have any trouble? The Germany fans I have met seem very phlegmatic about their football these days and can take winning and losing in their stride equally well.
  11. I miss chatting to Dan at away games and think of him often. He would be loving this run in, no wobbles for him! We'd discuss tactics in the concourse pre-game, how many we'll win by and possible goalscorers over a cuppa (me) and a pie and a pint (Dan) with much enthusiasm. I take my photocard of Daniel to every game, and feel he is still with us, willing us on. #bemoreB4
  12. Rows? I haven't noticed any and, in contrast, have only seen them supporting each other. I see the defence as a (preferably) 5 person unit that builds understanding over time. To bring in Vickers at this crucial stage of the season, with his lack of game time, would be a big mistake, imo.
  13. Yep, 20 minutes before kick-off. Got to feel for the Aldershot team and supporters. But apparently their management were putting pressure on the referee.
  14. Only heard snatches of a few of the interviews, but Fozzy said he is targeting playing some part in the last game of the season - but might not make it.
  15. I never leave a game early. I stay and applaud the players off the pitch - win, lose or draw - as I think you well know, young man!
  16. Hope they were doing lots of chasing about!
  17. I was thinking of this song!
  18. I haven't listened to that. I wonder what the factor is to ensure a bespoke kit, then? Couldn't see Chesterfield being in a position to pay extra.
  19. There are a lot of candidates who all deserve it for one reason or another. Such a likeable team. My immediate thought was NML, as he fits the criteria in the song 🎵 but any of the younger players, or Collins, or Adams, Wilson, the list goes on.
  20. That's pretty good for non-league? And they play at the big athletics stadium, don't they? 665 at Alfreton yesterday.
  21. I know we like to reminisce, so here is a new interview with Robin Van der Laan, who scored the goal that last won us automatic promotion. It's a real opportunity for one of our current players to step up and earn their own place in DCFC history by doing similar over the next few games. Who would you put your money on scoring the goal that takes us up?
