  1. Mendez-Laing CF. What's Weston got to do to get on the bench? 4 CMs and no wingers or CFs on there 🤔
  2. Correction: it's Khace Gordon. 2-1 down - McAndrew assisted by Gordon
  3. Team news: Price IGordon Banks Osayande Gill Eames McAndrew Osong Allen Gough Oguntolu Subs: Hardy, Canoville, Tola, Green, Augustien
  4. Expect March at the earliest. Waghorn and Washington mid to late Feb. Brown loaned out for the season (but can be recalled in Feb if needed). We'll be a bit light up top for a while.
  5. A tiny bit of insight into what kind ofthreat Cheltenham pose.... Only 4 of their current squad members have scored for them in the league this season. Only one of those has more than 2 goals. Their most likely front 2 to start have scored just 4 goals between them. In other areas of play... The ball will be in the air a lot as they're won of the most aerially diminant sides in the league, and they'll press quickly to force mistakes.
  6. I thought it was this: Vickers Nelson Bradley Cashin Ward Sibley Bird Elder Mendez-Laing Blackett-Taylor
  7. It was closer to a 4231 with Tommo furthest forward
  8. Bardell is still injured. The U21 defenders who started the last game were Oduroh, Bartley, KRobinson and Moloney. If we were to pick one, I expect it would be Bartley
  9. He's joint 3rd central mid (DM, CM or AM) in the league for open play key passes - Peterborough's Randall and Charlton's Dobson are top 2. Shooting is his biggest weakness, but he's still joint 16 for open play shots (only 7 shots behind 4th)
  10. 433 with the ball? Be more adventurous and go 235. With the same personell listed above: Wildsmith Nelson Cashin Bird Hourihane Thompson Wilson Mendez-Laing Collins Blackett-Taylor Elder
  11. Xavi would typically make 80% sideways or backwards passes - and that's not tongue in cheek. 50% of Carrick's would go sideways or backwards
  12. If I had to guess, Canoville is a CB and Mintus is an AM
  13. Rio Canoville was at Notts County 6 years ago. He's in the U16s now, but don't know if he's just on tiral at our club our joined us at some point permanently. I think it's his dad (Former Torquay and Notts County defender Lee Canoville) who runs a coaching academy called Canonville Coaching, based in Nottingham
  14. Of Bird's 35 passes agaisnt Reading, 20 (57%) went forwards, 8 (23%) went sideways or didn't go far enough forward for it to be worthwhile callign forwards, with just 7 (20%) going backwards. Hourihane's pasing figures will be similar, if not slightly better due to playing slightly deeper and taking free-kicks.
  15. Dropped from the entire squad and not named on a bench which had spaces?
  16. People need to get over it. He will have made mistakes, but it's clear to me he also has regrets. Despite that, and still getting abused by fans, he has stuck by the club to make amends. Quantuma felt he was worth keeping around. Clowes has made the decision to keep him as his CEO. Move on.
  17. More likely confirmination of a return to a back 3. Mostly played on the right of a back 3 for Aberdeen last season. It's most liekly BS anyway
  18. Whittaker's advantage was his brain and technical ability. It was his lack of physicality that meant he struggled with the step up, just as he had done stepping up from the U18s to the U21s. The biggest problem he had was having a manager who didn't understand what type of player he was and ddin't have the patience to develop him. With Brown, it's not a case of him being a stronger/faster playing at youth level and now he's coming up against strogner/faster defenders... He's just not mentally ready to play for our first team. It's sort of a mental block of beliving that he is capable of playing in League 1 at this moment in time. Cashin has talked about similar issues when he was thrown in the first team - he didn't think he deserved to be in the team and was just there becuase we had no one else. Luke Thomas went over to the wrong wing on his debut becasue of nerves.
  19. The same Ipswich who made 7 signings in the summer and another 2 so far this month?
  20. The club have stated the aim is to get promoted. No L1 club has a ready made squad for the Championship, but we have a summer transfer window to prepare. Hull are chasing promotion, so what they're spending is of insignificance to our first season back in the Championship. What are mid-table sides spending? What about those battling relegation?
  21. They can be good players (in the right system) and bad players (in Warne's system). For example, you could get Huddlestone and Ledley to bomb up and down the pitch and they'll tire quickly, get caught out of position defensively and leave large gaps in the middle of the field (sound familiar?), or you could have them sitting deep, leave very little gap between themselves and the defence and they'll look very good.
  22. Gellaw 202 (the stadium) and The Club are both owned by Clowes Developments. The £750k is essentially moved from the left hand to the right hand. I believe a 'real rent' has to be paid for P&S purposes.
  23. Wheeldon only just stepped up to U21 football a few games before Christmas. Give him 12 months at that level before judging where to send him on loan. I don't think he's ready for first team game time. Fapetu also only stepped up to U21 football his season. He's been a regular starter (helped by the occasional absence of DRobinson and Radcliffe being out for several months). He was regular contributor of goals and assists for the U18s last season, but has so far failed to contribute to a goal this season. Just like Wheeldon, he'll need another year or so at U21 level before he's loaned out. I wouldn't expect him to be involved in first team games until next season.
  24. For the last few games I've tried to guess what lineup Warne would pick. Just in case Warne has been looking at my team to help him with his own selection, this time I'm going with my own team... Wildsmith Wilson Nelson Cashin Elder Bird Thompson Sibley Mendez-Laing Blackett-Taylor Collins Subs: Vickers, Bradley, Ward, Hourihane, DRobinson, Barkhuizen, Weston 433 because it gives us the control in midfield we need (and we havent got another senior striker to play alongside Collins). The front 3 ince chosen are our biggest goal threats available. Wilson starts at RB but gets moved to RW when Mendez-Laing and Blackett-Taylor have tired - Ward on at RB and Barkhuizen LW. Wildsmith in goal will instill more confidence in the defence and the crowd. A youthful midfield 3 to provide energy, with Bird at the base to actually link our defence and midfield together. Hourihane to find a new role as super-sub... coming on late to shut games down or to provide something different from set-pieces. Meanwhile, DRobinson is eased into L1 football.
  25. In the example you give it was because Pearson signed him for his 442. We then sacked him and hired McClaren who wanted to play 433 - Vydra is neither a lone forward or a winger. The following season was under Rowett who played him with a strike partner. What's the excuse for Warne when he's made these signings himself?
