Please please please do not be true. He’s awful, not just his goal return but his all round game is shocking. He’s not even as good as Collins

We'd all like a striker who can bag 25 goals every season but they're expensive. Have faith in Warne. That doesn't mean he's above criticism, but the fact is, he got us promoted 3 times from league 1 and has worked with the lad before.

I don't mean this disrespectfully at all, but you're looking at getting promoted from league 1, not  pushing for the Prem. That's Warne's remit right now, league 1 promotion. He'll sign players who want to work hard for the team and will do the job he wants. Washington will be good in league 1, he was OK in the championship last season to be fair. That said, I don't know anything about Collins, maybe he's a similar player?

I agree with the general point and to try and add some balance Warne averaged 1.55 points per game in his 9 games in charge of Rotherham last season (14 points). Taylor averaged 0.97 ppg (36 in 37 games). Taking Taylor's management over a full season gives 46 points so they still escape relegation but only just.

I understand that there are plenty of other factors at play (Taylor didn't handle pre-season and was appointed out of the transfer window plus Warne's teams have a history of stalling / free falling later in the season) but I did want to try and make the point that Warne's brief tenure had an important role in keeping Rotherham up in 22/23.

    (Rotherham fan here)

Warne definitely got us off to a decent start but in fairness we really did ride our luck in a few of those games. We could just have easily been at the wrong end of the table. And like you say, we were always going to slide.

In contrast, Matt Taylor had very little luck. Late goals going in, referee decisions going against us and an horrific injury list. That being said, when you rely on 30+year old journey-men you'll have injuries.

Looking forward to seeing the players Warne brings in. Big season for him.

  3. Hello guys, Rotherham fan in peace here. I used to live and work in Derby until recently so have always taken an interest in the Rams.

I can tell you that Vickers is an excellent keeper. He'll definitely give Wildsmith some stiff competition for the number one spot. When Johansson got injured towards the end of the season, he came in for us and did an amazing job. I think it's a great move for the lad, especially if he can force his way into the first team. The fact Warne has signed him and has worked with him before tells you everything you need to know. He won't let you down.

Anyway, since then, Leeds are now sniffing round our number one keeper. You really couldn't make it up 🙈
