That blue kit is actually really nice, would like something similar for our away kit this season. It's got a bit of an mid 90s vibe to it.

Our 1989 blue chequered squares away kit is still my favourite. 😍

I like how a lot of clubs have done homages to their 90s kits or similar designs for their new kits. Hoping we get something like that too this year I know it would sell really well haha

Would be great to have a good start and see us top of the League. Half the team will be new players and it won’t all revolve around McGoldrick. Time for Collins to step up ?

he did well in my FM save so why not in real life too? haha

Away to Harrogate, Barrow, Sutton, Crawley or Wrexham as they're the only league teams that I've not seen Derby play against away from home.

wrexham would certainly be a really fun first round draw

I’m pretty happy with how the fixtures have fallen so far. Obviously that might change based on our signings, other teams’ signings, form etc.

For example, right now looking at Wigan, the fact they were in the Championship last season means very little. They’re in trouble again, points deduction and players leaving. Right now I look at them at home and think that anything less than 3 points is a bad result. Under their new ownership they may recruit well and all of a sudden, who knows?

In our first 10 games, Oxford and Portsmouth look the toughest at home but we have to win games like that if we want to finish in the top 2. Fleetwood beat us at home last season, so on paper we win that but in reality it’s different.

Yeah exactly, as of now with what we assume wigan will be like it should be a game where we expect to leave with 3 points. So many things still up in the air of course as u mentioned, but I seriously expect us to be the team to beat and I hope I'm right.

Obviously slip ups happen in a season, we won't go 46-0-0, wouldn't that be nice 🤔 haha, but I'm hoping we can get wins with against the tougher opponents early on to set the tone and hopefully develop some space between us and some of the other promotion rivals.

Glorified friendlies until you get to knockouts if you do, then take it more seriously. Let's face, a day out at Wembley and trophy is something everyone would like. But I certainly wouldn't put much into the competition until it starts progressing.

This is pretty much exactly how I feel about it the more I think of it

Wigan at home first day. Wigan away Boxing Day. Carlisle at home final day.

Annoyingly for me, my closest game (Exeter away) is a Tuesday night again. Annoyingly for others, Blackpool away is also a Tuesday night in October.

Six of our first 10 games will be at home, with away games against Burton & Carlisle also in there. There’s a few tough games but it looks like a really good opportunity to hit the ground running and establish ourselves from the start.

really think we can start the first 10 with 7+ wins and from there hopefully ride the momentum as we get better and better

The Carabao Cup Round One draw will take place live on Sky Sports at 2:30pm on Thursday 22 June.

A total of 36 fixtures will be drawn for Round One, with all 72 EFL Clubs, including newly promoted Notts County and Wrexham in the draw.

The 12 Premier League Clubs not competing in Europe will join in Round Two, with the other eight Premier League Clubs starting in Round Three.

The Round One draw will see teams drawn in Northern and Southern sections, with matches scheduled to take place week commencing 7 August.

who's ur ideal first round draw? whether it be for traveling purposes or just a game you'd really like to see.

  8. Do Derby fans care about the pizza trophy lol? Where is it in terms of your priority list for the season. Obviously the league is first but I think having it as added on silverware would be really nice and for me lands 2nd in terms of priority.

Portsmouth have signed 5 already. Don't know about the quality obviously, but given end of season form they will be serious promotion rivals.

Overall pretty good business done by them, Will Norris is a really quality keeper who will make a good impact for them next season I'm sure, Saydee was pretty solid last season for Shrewsbury as well plus he's really young so I only assume he will improve, Shaugnessy and Scully I am not too impressed with, but they're still good pieces to add for depth if anything. I still like what we're doing more (probably a bit of bias) but can certainly add them as a club that will be fighting with us for automatic promotion.

I had family members who live in Canada, Brother in Law gets into an argument at work concerning the hardness of a cricket ball to a baseball, He had a cricket ball sent over...he won the argument 😁

As someone who has played a little of both sports I can definitely attest to that haha

Does anyone else actually expect us to sign anyone today?

I know Big Trav has said there will be two.

But I'm not sure on what basis he has that from? Is it a guess?

Cos Warne said essentially we should have 5 in before pre season starts. Which I think is towards the end of next week?

So could just say there is two coming today quite easily cos there's a chance you could he right?

But then again Big Trav has also said we won't sign a permanent right back we want one on loan. Which is quite a bit of detail which could have only come from someone in the recruitment team or someone who knows someone there?

Fwiw when we haven't got a right back at all. Signing one on loan would be bizarre.

I certainly hope we sign someone today lol, not sure about Big Trav's intel but it would make sense in terms of what Warne has said that a couple signings come through today or within the next few days. I'm not completely against signing a right back on loan despite not having one right now. If/when we promote it would be a lot easier to sign players next season that we feel more comfortable giving longer contracts to who are of better quality.

Personally? No. But I also don't think there's anything in the Sonny Bradley stuff either.

I agree, just doesn't seem like something I could see happening, seems like we're just "thrown in the mix" for the sake of being "thrown in the mix"

I don’t buy he needs to define his role - the best thing about him is that he’s versatile and is a high energy, high motor player. He’s a useful squad player and would be at the highest level. The problem he is always going to face is that there are simply better footballers, in abundance, throughout the leagues. No team is buying Jason Knight for his technical ability, you can find better footballers on the ball in non-league, but you do buy him for his ability out of possession, his energy and the fact he can cover multiple positions.

RWB in a good team, in League One, is ideal because the wingers at this level are substandard - the best winger we came up against last season was Mehmeti who joined Bristol City and struggled in the Championship. In the Championship, at the same position, he’s getting his arse handed to him multiple times a game - same as Sibley at LB/LWB. He’s then better suited as a midfielder in a counter pressing team where his off the ball ability becomes a much more valuable asset.

Let’s face it, that’s the problem we had with him in midfield this season and why he played his best football this season for us at right back. We didn’t need a player who was outstanding at counter pressing when we’re camped on the opposition box 8 games out of 10. We needed someone with a bit of craft, who could open up defences and provide better quality chances - we needed a more technical player than Knight.

Do you think that he can't or isn't likely to improve or develop in that aspect of his game? Agree with the argument though just want to hear your thoughts on that.

  14. 34 minutes ago, Kernow said:

If Knight does stay, although I don’t expect he will, perhaps RWB could be “his” position?

He excelled at RWB last night for Ireland. His performances at RWB under Rosenior were probably the best he played last season, and it’s where he’d probably fit in best in a Warne team.

He’s 22 years old. It won’t be long before he isn’t even eligible for young player of the season anymore, yet he doesn’t have a defined role. He’s very versatile, but that can also be a downfall because instead of being a key player, you’re someone who can be moved around a lot and a lack of consistency in role has to disrupt form & performances.

If Knight does stay and Warne sits him down and tells him he’s a RWB and that’s where he’ll stay for the season, then I think we could do a lot worse in that position.

He mainly lived on the right side of the pitch this past season right? Can't imagine that it wouldn't be an easy transition since as you mentioned he has played there with Ireland. If we cannot sign a solid right back or if there isn't one that Warne really likes on the market right now I think this is a pretty good idea.
