  1. A few weeks back when we were however may games unbeaten, we weren't suddenly Barcelona and now, after just 7 points from 5 games we have still only lost 2 of 14 so we aren't going to do a Forest Green either. Why do Derby fans seem incapable of a sense of relativity? Unable to put context into a situation. A loss sees so many in a dark and dismal place, a win has them creaming themselves. Extremes, it would seem, as with just about everything in modern day life.
  2. Derby has always had scapegoats when things go pear shaped. Currently it's Warne and Bird getting the stick with Hourihane a close 3rd. Collins has been let of the hook somewhat and Sibs appears to be taking his place in the firing line. While some of the comments are valid on a single game level, they why is never looked at. A player will have an off day yet when he does, he's suddenly bloody useless. I have ones I'm not fond of. Ward and Wilson are, IMO, good wingbacks. Unfortunately for them, they have been regularly played at full back. Doesn't suddenly mean they have become useless overnight, just that they have been used in the "wrong" way and that is not the player's fault. That brings me back to Sibs... Only long spell he's had in any one role was at left back last season and he did well. What would happen if he got a run at #10? We'll never know.
  3. When, apart from his prolonged stint at left back, has Sibley had a long run in a single position? I agree with everybody who says he hasn't developed as we thought. however, we should also look at why and, IMO, Sibs isn't the problem. For him to push on I believe he needs to move and get a club with a manager who will play him in just the one role over a run of games.
  4. IMO, When Nyambe is back, neither Ward nor Wilson will start. We now have NML, Barks and CTB for the 2 wide berths and 2 of the 3 will get the nod over either of the W's for a starting place.
  5. Game #3 at PP for me this season 31Vickers 5 2Wilson 7 Still better going forward than as a defender but this was probably his best defensive performance for us 35Nelson 7 6Cashin 7 20Elder 4 Does not fill me with confidence when defending. OK going forward but no more than that 17Sibley 6 Comes on at left back. Is he ever going to get a run at #10 to show what he can do there. Only role he has had a run in was LB for about 14 games last season. Did well. He never knows where he's going to be asked to play. LB, LWB, DM, LW, RW... little wonder he's not fulfilling his potential 11Méndez-Laing 7 When he clicks, we click. A talent but one that needs nursing 8Bird 7 4Hourihane 7 7Barkhuizen 6 5Bradley 6 19John-Jules 5.5 16Thompson 5.5 9Collins 6.5
  6. As an ex keeper myself, I think JW has the better all round game. The reason given for him not playing was given as he'd had a knock. He has been criticised for going down too often. I would agree but I'm old fashioned and still think you go down when injured and for no other reason. Most times when he goes down, it's at a point in the game where the opposition is getting the upper hand. I think he does it to take their momentum away. I also think he shouldn't do it for that reason. I know other teams do it, I just don't like it.
  7. There was a time when Millwall attended games in doctor's scrubs and called themselves "Treatment".
  8. .... it seems the curse started even before the award was announced 🙂 Rumour has it he only accepted it on the proviso he could refuse the accompanying curse.
  9. Back in the 70s. There was the Burton lot, Willington, Findern, Osmaston, Normanton, Allenton, Belper, Ripley, Ashbourne and all points north/south/east/west... all the "local" groups merged into one on matchday.
  10. They've played 28 League games so far this season. Oduroh featured in 20 of them. That seems more like regular appearances to me than being "in and out".
  11. I turn 70 next month. I'll let you know when I get old 😉
  12. Became the DLF when a Rams Director referred to the "Lunatic Fringe" which the lads adopted. Early 80s I thought.
  13. Odurah is supposed to be a right back...
  14. We set up a certain way. The way they set up saw them press our box which led to our main tactic being lump it up to Collo who was being marked by two 6'4" centre halves thereby playing into Bradford's hands. There should have been a change of shape inside the first 15 minutes and if that meant a change of personnel, so be it.
  15. Doesn't really matter how serious we are, if a player is going to cost more than we have budgeted for in the business plan the EFL agreed to OR they are not available OR their club won't let them leave/come to us OR the player doesn't want to join Derby then we aren't going to get them. No point in getting numbers in for numbers sake, especially when we have young uns like Robinson, Fapetu, Weston, Brown and others who would gladly step up to the first team if given the chance. Any player we sign, IMO, has to be one who will improve the squad/team.
  16. We need a Seth/GT type with good legs to bolster MF, IMO.
  17. You don't "enter" it as such. If you're in L1 or L2 then you are in it, whether you want to be or not. One of the rules of the Trophy states EFL members SHALL compete... it's compulsory.
  18. Outside chance that that was why they played deep. Lull BA into a false sense of security... or Bradley just isn't that quick anymore.
  19. TV Vickers 5.5 Got away with several mistakes 1st half. Better 2nd Nelson 6.5 The odd mistake but mainly solid Wilson 5.5 Invisible opening 20. Nowhere near his usual standards John-Jules 5 Pretty ineffective. Needs to learn to stay on his feet rather than go down at the slightest touch Bradley 5.5 Few errors opening minutes and OK after that Barkhuizen 6 nothing bad but nothing above average either Collins 6 based on his 2nd half. Invisible 1st half except for his falling wardrobe imitations. Gives too many fouls away as well Thompson 5 Twice poor first touch in the box saw scoring chances lost and his general play wasn't up to standard Mendez-Laing 7 best of a bad bunch by a mile Sibley 5 not at the races Bird 7 improved the MF, all to no avail Elder 6 Not good, not bad. I'm still not sure which question he's the answer to. Much better going forward than in defence and he's a defender Cashin 6 huffed and puffed but, like his teammates, couldn't make a difference Fornah 5 not the player he was in his first 3 appearances this season Hourihane 7 improved the MF, all to no avail Ward 6 Not good, not bad. I'm still not sure which question he's the answer to. Much better going forward than in defence and he's a defender. The team 5 too many misplaced passes. Too many times the first touch was poor. Too many times we were nowhere near the 2nd ball. Too many times their man in possession had 2 or more teammates open and unmarked to receive a pass. Too many times their players could romp through midfield unchallenged. Too many poor tackles. It seems that, at the moment, both Sibley and Thommo are better 30 minute subs than they are starters.
  20. IIRC, when some of the first out tried to get back in, the stewards tried to shut the gates. KO told them, in no uncertain terms, what would happen to them if they didn't stop shutting the gates. Stewards left the gates alone...
  21. Indeed, as I said in the post you quoted "what would have been DLF lads had the term been coined back then"
  22. Mainly feet and hands. Coins tended to be inside the ground and at one time Kung Fu stars weren't unknown...
  23. ... and the previous God knows how many windows. All the usual clickbait sites have us interested in a plethora of players. Whether it's a position we need new players for seems irrelevant. Whether we have an embargo on transfer fees is of no import despite the palyer's club wanting 7 figures... Their latest wheeze is suggesting players we MIGHT be interested in or listing players we won't be able to keep hold of. Even worse, some numpties then go and post the link to the non-story on all the various pages/forums etc on "social" media. The same people posting the same link to the same non-story in 27 different places online. I have a theory that they are part and parcel of whatever clickbait site it is they keep posting up. Even suggested a couple of time in comments... nobody has yet denied it.
