StaffsRam Posted August 9, 2012 Share Posted August 9, 2012 Can somebody tell me why boxing has to be amatuer but tennis football can be pros doesn't make sense It's up to the respective governing bodies - Tennis' governing body has no problem with professional entry, Boxing's governing body prefers to keep things at an amateur level. Watching Murray and Federer etc only does the Olympics harm in my opinion. They earn enough and have a high enough profile the rest of the year. Unfortunately though these days nearly every sport in the Olympics is now professional, even down to the minority sports, so there wouldn't be much left if it was solely amateur!
