Ladies FA Cup Final

This is between Birmingham City And Chelsea at Ashton Gate at 1215 on 26th May 2012.

Will anyone be following it or is it just going to be Brummies who show any interest.

Karen Carney is a good player and the England Ladies often make good progress. The game is not spoiled by vast injections of cash, but can anyone foresee a time when ladies football will be taken seriously except by a select few?

Birmingham City ace Karen Carney says she is even willing to play in goal if it guarantees her a place against Chelsea in Saturday's FA Women's Cup Final.

But, having hit two goals in the Semi-Final, it should not come to that for Carney, who looks set to star for the Blues at Bristol City's Ashton Gate.

Those two goals, plus a brace from Rachel Williams, meant David Parker's side made it through to The Final with a comfortable 4-1 victory against Bristol Academy in April.

Now they find themselves in fine form, unbeaten in the League and England international Carney is looking forward to the tie.

"It will be a good game and if we prepare ourselves properly and give everything we've got then that will hopefully be enough on the day," she told TheFA.com.

"If I'm called upon to play any part in The Cup Final I will try and do my best for the team, whether it's crossing or even being in goal."

However Carney is aware of the threat that a strong Chelsea team can bring.

"I think Chelsea are a very good team," she said. "They've brought in some great players and added strength to the squad.

"They've got good momentum as well, they've won the last few League games and they're going into The Final high on form. It's going to be a tough challenge."

Carney is only 24 yet has 73 England caps to her name and has participated in four major tournaments. Birmingham are two points behind her former club Arsenal and she believes an FA Cup triumph added to a League win is a genuine possibility.

"No team is on form as of yet," she added. "It's very open and that's great for the League.

"I think every team in the League is going out with the objective to win it and I don't think we're any different."

Even in America, where women's football gets quite a bit of respect they can't get anyone to watch it and the last 2 "pro" women's leagues have folded. But we'll always have you, Brandi Chastain's sports bra after winning the 99' World Cup.
