^^ True, to a point.

The two meetings previous to this season were in 2009 - plenty of players on both sides are still around in the respective teams.

Two meetings that Barcelona dodgily won on away goals.

Even before that, back in 2007 many of the same players were playing. Again, two games, one Chelsea win, one draw.

Either way, Chelsea have proven down the years that they're more than capable of producing teams that can stand up to Barcelona.

Since 2005, Chelsea have won three, drawn five and lost two. It should hardly come as a surprise that Chelsea can today, like 3 years ago, five years ago, or seven years ago, produce a team that can stop Barcelona scoring more than them.

Back in 05 they had Duff and Robben Joe Cole, Gudjohnsen, Gallas, Carvalho, Huth (HAHAHA!)

Messi was only just coming through and only featured in meaningless games, they had Ronaldinho, Deco, Ett'o, van Bronckhorst, Guily etc

The only surivors were Cech, Terry, Lampard, Valdes, Puyol, Xavi, Iniesta in the starting 11s.

Of course the managers and the Barcelona and Chelsea's style of play were also very different back then

Chelsea were dominating the PL also and were the big spenders.

Players change, Managers change, systems change, tactics change - yet the results stay the same.

2005:

Barcelona 2 Chelsea 1

Chelsea 4 Barcelona 2

2006:

Chelsea 1 Barcelona 2

Barcelona 1 Chelsea 1

2007:

Chelsea 1 Barcelona 0

Barcelona 2 Chelsea 2

2009:

Barcelona 0 Chelsea 0

Chelsea 1 Barcelona 1

2012:

Chelsea 1 Barcelona 0

Barcelona 2 Chelsea 2

Point is - it really shouldn't come as any great surprise that Chelsea are at least capable of causing Barcelona problems. Only a fool would be surprised by that.

APOEL is a great story, it really is. It will be interesting to see how they do next season.

Montpellier - great achievement! Unlucky PSG!

Dortmund also, won the Bundesliga fairly comfortably - they'll be a real handful in Europe next year.

On a funnier note, if you pause this video on about 2.04 you can see my mates brother running across the pitch.

It's still my dream to get on the pitch when Derby score/win something and do a one man pitch invasion. Doing it at the Champions League final is different gravy though, well jelous.

The question is.......who would you rather be a fan of right now.........?

Arsenal who have played beautiful football all season, and ended up 3rd and winning absolutley nothing at all.....OR

Chelsea, finished 6th, with a completely different style of football, but with the European Cup tucked away in the trophy cabinet....?

i know which one I would rather support......

Good on Di Matteo, fair play to them all, and well done to Roman for sticking his money into it all.
