mozza
What are your thoughts on his campaign for the maximum players wage to be scrapped ..? what standard would football be at now if wages were capped at say .. £600 per week for a top professional nationwide ?. Where would Derby be in that scenario? Personally I think it was the beginning of the end of loyalty to clubs, and he probably has done more damage than Sky. Thoughts... davenportram
I read somewhere that we tried to keep or reinstate a wage cap - ahead of our times at Derby
mozza
I read somewhere that we tried to keep or reinstate a wage cap - ahead of our times at Derby Derby seem to be going along those lines of 'capping' but it would have to be nationwide to have a positive effect imo. McRamFan
There are several clubs that have wage caps, its only the super rich that don't and a universal wage cap would not work unless it was global.
mozza
I know it wouldn't work now...like I say Jimmy Hill put paid to that

mozza
it was 51 years ago in January 1961 that Jimmy Hill and Clive Lloyd won a 'High Court Battle' to get wage capping abolished... where will it all end ? http://menmedia.co.uk/manchestereveningnews/sport/football/s/1405490_english_football_needs_a_wage_cap
uttoxram75
Love the references to proper football clubs like Derby County, Aston Villa, Notts County, etc, etc, then a small mention of Manchester City then a tiny little mention of another Manchester club called Newton Heath.......It makes you wonder how big Manure would have been without the national sympathy from the Munich air crash. Good points very well made. Proper teams ? Also list Bristol Rovers, Colchester United. You're nowt unless you've won the Watney Cup. (an ugly rumour has it that some team from a spoil heap west of Uttoxeter eventually managed it also).
