Don't get me wrong, I like going to railway museums. I went to the one in York on Friday and I found it fascinating 'http://www.dcfcfans.uk/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> but train spotting just goes too far. I don't think train spotters tend to have a wife or have any friends apart from other fellow train spotters 'http://www.dcfcfans.uk/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':P' />

It came about at a time where it might of been vaguely interesting. In the victorian era where Britain was a pioneer of the railway industry and lightyears ahead of the rest of the world, most trains rolling into the station had a unique history, were of different size, design and use. The trains had some character and prestige so I guess it was a challenge to tick off as many as you could. It was mostly young boys who had nothing to do, equivalent to degenerate yobs who drink cider in parks these days. F**k knows why anyone would do it now as they all look the same. Anoraks.

Did you know that every one of Eddie's lorries has a lady's name on the front grill? I haven't seen them myself, it's just what I've been told. 'http://www.dcfcfans.uk/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/ph34r' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Wrong, apparently. I saw a TV prog recently about Edie Stobart's empire (sad, I know) where the cat had been put firmly amongst the pigeons by naming one 'Vanentino'. It didn't go down well with the afficianados.

Why? The nearest I've got to plane spotting is going to Manchester airport and having a quick squiz round Concorde. Have to say, it was amazingly dull. I s'pose cos planes flew past our house every ten minutes, seeing a plane got more and more dull. Even the new dreamliner is, well, dull.

But, one thing I did like was getting up close and personal to a B52 at Duxford museum aswell as Memphis Bell. If I'm going to see a plane, I like to know the history behind it. Seeing them in museums is a bit more informative than watching them in everyday use.

Ok, I admit I can understand this spotting thing. Trains today all look same to me but earlier they were more interesting. Planes though would interest me more. And if I had a life outside of this forum, and still didn't have a life, perhaps I might be found at the closest airport. Thats true LR, one of the best days out iv'e ever had was the 65th anniversary of the Dambuster bombings at the Derwent Valley in Derbyshire. A Lancaster, Spitfire, Hurricane, Dakota and Tornado all skimming our famous river!

Tried to embed a video but it wont let me 'http://www.dcfcfans.uk/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':(' />
