The paper is usually on sale in most supermarkets until tuesday or wednesday. Link to comment https://dcfcfans.uk/topic/7595-derby-county-1986-87/ Share on other sites

Smalley Ram
could now be "Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! Theo theo! Theo theo theo theo Robinson!" dusrecon? It works well but is it disrepescting Sir Bobby of the Davison (as much as I like Theo)? MuespachRam
Great, great footballing side. King Arthurs team of 86/87 would have walked all over Billys promotion team and Smiths. Wallington Sage Forsyth Hindmarch Blades Callaghan Mickelwhite Gregory Williams Gee Bobby What an awesome 11 they were. Class. No out and out superstars, not even sure if any went on to a big move after they left us, dont think so ? But goes to show what happens when you get the defence right, and add a couple of goalscorers into the team. MuespachRam
i agree, best team i've seen at Derby It just goes to show you how simple football is.... Wallington.....a decent and vastily experienced goalkeeper. Sage and Forsyth....Good solid full backs, never went over the half way line. Hindmarch and Blades...One massive rock who could head it and kick it hard (a great CAPTAIN too) and the other faster and good at reading the game. Callaghan and Micklewhite....wingers...get the ball, beat the man....and cross it.... Gregory and Williams....Williams diving in to win the ball...when he gets it, gives it to Gregory to ping about the pitch wherever he wants. Davison and Gee....goal scorers.. I know they ALL had a bit more to their game than that, but that is how easy it is.... Arise King Arthur... rams71
yeah, two wingers who kept out wide thus always giving the team width, beating the fullback, getting to the byeline and getting a cross into the box. footballs a easy game over-complicated by coaches and pundits with formations, systems etc. anyone remember Mickey Lewis absolutely mullering Steve MacMahon?
