Thats the geezer who wrote the Sharpe books too - he always out some historical detail in the back to give the real story of the events and how he adapted them to fit the character. Never read 'em though But the 100 Years War books are very good. Heretic, Harlequin and...... forgot. Sharpe too. The TV series was pretty good too i thought. Bit tame now.
