Thats the geezer who wrote the Sharpe books too - he always out some historical detail in the back to give the real story of the events and how he adapted them to fit the character.

He did some American stories too and at least one Viking one too.

American Civil war i think. Got that collection somewhere. Never read 'em though

But the 100 Years War books are very good. Heretic, Harlequin and...... forgot.

Sharpe too. The TV series was pretty good too i thought. Bit tame now. There's loadsa Sharpe books!!

You still didn't explain the answer the world, the universe and everything though. Just tantilising clues!
