I'm not bothering, by the time I buy 2 adult and 2 child tickets, add on travel, food, programme, drinks etc it will be closer to £120.00

I'm going to get my tickets for the Donny game instead. Working at Keepmoat, it's just 2 minutes walk from my office to watch the game. God, I hope we win this year otherwise I'm going to get some right stick again....

Talksport have just interviewed their South American football expert. He says the match is being played at Derby because we have the highest population of Ukraines in England.

Makes you proud doesnt it.

Actually there's been a Ukraine centre in Derby for many years now. I remember it in the 70's !

google search reveals ..

Although official figures are not available, estimates put the number of Ukrainians working in London as high as 40,000, with possibly up to 100,000 Ukrainians in the UK as a whole. http://www.artukraine.com/uasupport/migr_workers.htm

In all, Ukrainians settled in over 80 towns and cities around the UK, the largest communities being in Manchester, Bradford, Nottingham and London.

http://www.ukrainiansintheuk.info/eng/01/ukrinuk-e.htm

There are between 400-500 Ukrainians living in Derby split through three generations.

If these figures are accurate it's hard to believe 400 - 500 Ukrainians living in Derby is the real reason the match is being held at PP

RIO DE JANEIRO, Sept 28 (Reuters) - Brazil have confirmed two friendlies in October against Iran and Ukraine.

The 2014 World Cup hosts will play Iran in Abu Dhabi on Oct. 7 and Ukraine at Pride Park in Derby, England four days later.

Derby is “the city with the largest number of Ukrainian immigrants in England,†the Brazilian Football Confederation said of the choice of venue on its website (www.cbf.com.br).

Coach Mano Menezes, who replaced Dunga after the World Cup in South Africa, named his squad last week for these matches. In his first match in charge Brazil beat the United States 2-0 in New Jersey in August.

Brazil have never met Iran and Ukraine before.

The club is obviously trying to make back the money they have given away with the ticket discounting. They will have fees to pay to both teams federations, the stadium keeping the balance of what's left.

I wonder if they have any tee shirts in the Ukraine colours:rolleyes:

Will the club stand to lose or gain any money by this game? Surely it will be underwritten by the 2 countries FA's or sponsors.

I would have thought it would be a case of nowt to lose for Derby but if a bit of merchandise is shifted then all well and good.

I would think the usual will apply which is that the teams federations are paid from the gate receipts. The stadium would normally keep a margin after charges etc and the teams federations receive the agreed fees. Stadia would normally bid for hosting such a match, hence if a smaller gate is expected generally a smaller stadium would be cheaper as a host venue (O/H costs etc).

Pride Park, as it is owned by the same owners as DCFC, and associated match ticket sales will therefore impact on the club. I know others have stated that this will not impact on the club but certainly as stadium and team are owned by the same investors then it most certainly will do.

I think football in general is having to wake up to the economic reality of that is impacting on fans ability to pay to attend each game, especially if you have a family to pay for, as well as the odd international friendly thrown in. If you look across the leagues, attendances are down and I for one am not spending as much in the club shop or on refreshments.

Derby would have budgeted for the game something like this:

Expected gate receipts Avg price £22 x 25'000 = £550'000

Brazil Fees less £250'000

Ukraine Fees less £125'000

Match Costs (stewarding / police) less £75'000

Expected profit circa £100'000

Of course the above are just estimates but it's worthy of discussion.:)

Its a international friendly, Im pretty sure it will be stewarding only. So no police costs.
