Ever so slightly before my time but the name John Chiedozie came to my mind... could it be?

(Scrub that - it isn't him! But he did play for Notts County for a few seasons)

Ray O’Brien

Name doesn't ring a bell but, reading about him, I see he became the first full-back (at Notts County?) to finish season top scorer!

Not sure if that says more about him or about Notts County's forwards ?

Yes don’t recall if he scored 3 or 30 ?

Apparently he got 31 in 323, so almost 1 in 10 - pretty good for a full-back! I would put that at an average of maybe 4 goals a season, so even if he had an unusually prolific year, it still says more about Notts County's attack I think!

Yes John Chiedozie came to my mind too, but only because of the Notts County connection the rest of the clubs don't seem to stack up.

Mo was a good player think he had to retire due to a head or eye injury if my memory hasn’t failed me.

Yes, he didn't manage too many games for us over those 2 seasons - head-related injury definitely rings a bell.
