ramit
i don't feel up to checking the whole thread for what has been posted and what not, so i am posting something no one else here ever would. It is a song by an Icelandic musician and lyricist Megas from his first album about one of our most esteemed poets of olden days Jónas Hallgrímsson, a particular favorite of the then and often after ruling conservative party members. They were so offended by this song and others on this album that they had the album banned from radio and that stood for over a decade. This of course was anticipated by clever Megas and sales of the record took off in a major way. i went to the trouble of translating the lyrics, without rhyme, for i am lazy today. Of Poet Jónas Piss drunk in a lava field lay poet Jónas And snored like a timber mill in Brazil Mama don't approach with your delicate nose He stinks like he's dead, you might get nauseous He wrote about beautiful things, it is laughable Then spilled beer over the paper and the words Watch out mama, the man he has syphilis Remember when he leaves to clear the table Yes, truthfully Jónas's carcass drifted ashore Drifted ashore the beaches of the golden coast Look mama, the man is ill He mumbles something of collapse and grabs his pouch
