Van der MoodHoover
Wasn't it precisely this situation that caused the Ibrox disaster in 1970 - the biggest UK stadium disaster (until Hillsborough )?
Sith Happens
So funny watching those Norwich fans...rushing out...then indecisive, wondering what to do....got their sisters at home on a promise or run back in and celebrate.

You're right, but 1971. One of them scored right at the end, like 90th minute, 10's of thousands went flooding out, only for the opponents to equalise, causing them to rush back in. It seems that someone stumbled on the staircase, causing a massive pile up. Bodies were piled 6 feet deep. 66 were killed. Some pics. https://www.gettyimages.co.uk/photos/ibrox-disaster?sort=mostpopular&phrase=ibrox disaster

I was only a nipper and memory a bit incomplete but I remember a black and white news clip of a very steep terrace with broken crush barriers. I was working with a Scots bloke who was a right ******. He was bragging afterwards about 'hard hard the Scots are. They can bend metal with their bodies.' One of the most objectionable toads I have ever met.

Just found this atmospheric account written by the inimitable Roddy Forsyth, which puts it in perspective. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/rangers/8230503/The-Ibrox-Disaster-of-January-2-1971-which-claimed-66-lives-was-a-tragedy-waiting-to-happen.html
