Home v away for fixtures against top 8 shows a big difference,  but overall we seem to be broadly as successful.

So does that imply we have a relatively poor home record against teams not in the top 8?

Let's think

Wigan D

Ipswich L

Bristol D

Cardiff L

Rotherham W

Forest W

Preston D

Blackburn L

Villa D

Barnsley W

Wolves W

Qpr W

Burton D

Brentford D

Pretty mixed bag right there.

The 31 goals lost since 14/15 is really alarming though.

Not having enough in the final third seems to be the clear issue. This seems to effect being able to break down teams that will sit back and soak up the pressure when they come to Pride Park and then look to counter if they can - i.e. Ipswich, Wigan etc at home.

Then I think mentality is a real issue with this squad at the moment - a lot of goals conceded in the late parts of the games, and not having enough about them to think they can go away to top teams and get the win.

Thank goodness we've made all those changes since then. I really hate watching us score bucket loads of goals.

The home record Vs top 8 seems impressive, I wonder how that compares to previous seasons?

By wonder, I mean I can't be arsed to look at it myself, but if someone else does it would be welcome.

Reading are as bad as us.

against the ten other teams in the top 11 at home Reading won 7 drew 3: away v the same teams won 1 lost 9

anyway.....i can't be @rsed to check out our record in previous season  just yet either.

hopefully someone else will take pity on us and provide the stats.
