North_Stand_Ram
In his post match interview he stated that the ACL injuries were down to genetics, and that his specialist told him that it would of happened on both knees eventually... Something to do with something inside his knee growing thin when he was younger. Wonder if we'd of signed him if we'd down that... The medical can't of been that good either. WorksopRam
How strenuous are medicals usually? And how deep do they go, so to speak?
Carl Sagan
How strenuous are medicals usually? And how deep do they go, so to speak? This is why they introduced an eye test as part of the proceedings down the road. You can't be too careful.
Ninos
Everything is down to genetics and you never really know ... What was probably a tangential remark by an orthopedist is recalled by GT ... He could turn out to have the strongest knees on the team and I don't care who you are or how strong your knees are if you jolt them the wrong way the acl and/or mcl will tear ... No medical is going to determine if my bones are more brittle than yours or if my ligaments are less strong than yours ... this thread needs closing. Rev
Maybe in future we should put a new signings Mum and Dad through medicals too, just to be sure.

craic dispenser
Hmmm, I've never heard it explained that way before. I was under the impression the arches in your feet being flat can lead to wear and strain on the medial aspects of your knees. Genetics does go hand-in-hand with being injury prone, though. Sorry George. If your genetics give you strong ligaments, stable joints etc then you aren't injury prone. Conversely, if they don't, then you are. Having said that, if you're as good as he is with hair as sexy as that. Then I don't care. He'll always have little niggles etc, I fear, but he's our cripple and bloody good at his job.source: knee injury seasoned veteran
