Best XI of the last 10 years

I don't think this has been done on here, apologies if it has, but I notice that the DET have been running request for fans to send in their best Derby XI of the last 10 years.  It might be a bit more positive and not include mention of N*******e.

We need to consider players from 2005/06 onwards.

As a guide, the team for the opening game of that season was;

Lee Camp; Marc Edworthy, Richard Jackson, Andrew Davies, Michael Johnson; Morten Bisgaard, Inigo Idiakez, Paul Thirlwell, Tommy Smith; Grzegorz Rasiak, Paul Peschisolido

I will start thinking about mine now.

Done mine, main things that strike me are (1) We have got it so good now (last 10 games aside) and (2) We have had an abysmal run of left backs.

                          Grant

Wisdom - Shackell - Barker - Moxey

                         Thorne

                  Idiakez - Hughes

           Russell - Martin - Ince

Subs - Camp, Keogh, Brayford, Seth Johnson, Barnes, Hendrick, Bent

It's a hard one because if you're going by average performances then Grant would get in. However, if you're going on a season then Bywater would.

Bywater in 06/07

Wisdom in 13/14
Leacock in 06/07
Buxton in 13/14
Forsyth in 13/14

Barnes in 06/07
Hughes in 14/15
Bryson in 13/14
Commons in 10/11 or maybe even Ince in 14/15

Howard in 06/07
Martin in 13/14 or 14/15

Wouldn't the last 10 years be from the season before, the 04/05 season?

Choosing a left back for this was disgustingly hard...

                       Bywater

Brayford    Barker    Shackell    Roberts

                        Thorne

                 Hughes    Bryson

Commons                                 Barnes

                         Martin

Subs: Grant, Oakley, Ward, Idiakez, Hulse, Wisdom, Buxton

This team with each player in their prime would walk this league you'd like to think (maybe with the exception of Gareth Roberts).

What's wrong with Forsyth? He's comfortably the best LB of the past 10 seasons. Would an in-form Matt Ritchie have to swap wings in a home game because he was getting so little change out of Roberts?

Grant

Wisdom, Keogh, Buxton, Forsyth

Hendrick, Thorne, Hughes

Russell Martin Ince

I've gone with the team that pummeled Brighton in the play-off semi last season. That team is the strongest we've put out over the past 10 seasons. But basically, maybe Commons and Idiakez aside (the latter of which was already on a downwards trajectory by 05/06), the squad we have now has an answer to anything else we've had since then. And I'm not going to let a 10 game blip change my mind on that.

think russell maybe lucky to get in my team, but with commons martin and ince in there I thought we needed russell for his work rate.

Odd no players from the 2007 promo team in the first 11.

That side was too functional for my liking. That Colchester home game was the only time we played nice football. I know we got promoted but I didn't enjoy that season. Didn't feel right with Billy in charge.
