nomad Posted August 3, 2014 Share Posted August 3, 2014 I've heard that the deal was made complex by Derby who wanted Sheff Utd to pay for Bennett's loan and allow them to have Freeman for free. This allows Derby to recoup the full amount of cash without paying the sell-on clause to Notts Forest. I don't understand why paying the fee for the Bennett loan instead of the Freeman transfer would make this deal more complicated when a fee had already been agreed that appeared to be acceptable to both parties!?
