Your fellow Baggie was the one who said he was worried after lording it up over us. I just agreed that he should be worried.

By the way I'd actually prefer our season to yours, much more fun thanks.

Yeah I see this argument much like the one when people say they would prefer to not play UEFA league as its a distraction. If the Championship is more fun why bother getting promoted? Keep finishing 3rd and staying there, enjoy yourself.

Why are all West Brom fans jizzing all over 'JP' like he's some kind of demi-God! He's not a patch on our Candy Crush Mesiah! Nobbers!

....and if JP is soooooo friggin amazing, how come he gave his manager's job to some unknown prat and then sacked him, yeah that makes sense, he knows his stuff!

No, not at all. I came to give you my honest opinion based on the statement the club released yesterday.

Due to the players we released and went back on loan to their parent clubs, we have about 8 to 9 players to bring in this Summer, why would we want to add another 1 to that list?

Another reason we wont sell him is that we do not have to include him in the 25 man squad due to his age.

My opinion is that you will make further bids and we will continue to release statements that he is not for sale.

He's 21, you will have to register him.

I mean what are WB being hard to get or do they just not want to get rid of him, at least if he hadn't published that stupid article Derby and WB would be on more amicable terms. They are going to hold out for a fortune now for him. Even worse for Thorne because he'll be stuck in the reserves until his contract runs out or until someone bids £8 million for him. Stupid move by Thorne and his agent. Maybe we could be in at least reasonable discussions by now. The whole situation is getting ridiciulious.

Yep, another baggie here, in peace. Thought i'd post as i always kept an eye on this forum for opinions on GT when he was playing for you to see how he was getting on.

Couple of observations.

When we say things like 'you haven't dealt with JP' we don't necessarily mean it in a showing off kind of way. Sometimes it works for us and sometimes against us. It often works in our favour when we are selling as we really do manage to get excessive transfer fee's from clubs.

£5m for a 30-year-old Jonathan Greening

£6m for Diomansy Kamara

Think it was £6m for Jason Koumas.

£9m for Curtis Davies.

£7m for Long (he ain't as good as national press make out - all graft little quality)

The Odemwingie episode was a bad time for all parties. We stopped him from going to QPR on transfer deadline day out of spite i believe. That was an example of JP playing hardball perhaps at his own expense. He was always going to go for quite cheap as he only had 1 year left on contract and was 32. We got £2m so made 200k profit on him. He aint done much since he has left.

But when it comes to buying we often loose out on targets or leave it late because he negotiate for too long.

What i don't think anyone has mentioned yet is how much the academy is JP's pride and joy. The club are DESPERATE for someone to come through the youth system and play at PL level. JP built the academy, before he came we didn't have one. Thorne and Berahino are the first to come through.

It will take a massive amount to get him, not to get all high and mighty because i honestly don't think like that but i do believe WBA are currently a more attractive proposition. Simply because of the leagues. And he is our player, on a long term contract. The ball is firmly in our court.

Someone on a WBA forum worked out just how long Thorne has been available for selection for Albion since he was 18, it was 4 months (rest of time were loans and injury). For 2 of those months he was 18, and 1 other month he played. So that being said GT was talking out his ass a little bit. Fans are fickle though, couple of good performances and he will be back in favour with us.

I think Albion are a bit pee'd off with Derby over this. I think the club have always had first team football in mind for GT and we looking to send him on loan to you so he could gain match fitness, then all this happens i reckon Albion feel a bit burned by it, which will harden the stance.

Decent post, seems reasonably fair. If he's going to be fighting for a first team spot with you all the best to him next season, would just be a real shame if he doesn't get a good crack at it.

What do you make of the rumour that he was made to sign a new deal before he was allowed out on loan? Perhaps it's nonsense but it could explain why he's upset and feels "his heart is no longer at WBA" or some such ********. Seems like he's been treated quite reasonably this aside so makes me wonder if there's something in it that's all.

If we appoint Sherwood, he had a excellent record of promoting youth during the short time he was at Spurs.

We have signed Gardner but i think that he have signed him as utility. Importantly he can play RB as we need 2 RB's and 2 LB's and i cant see us signing 4 specialist full backs so maybe Gardner has been signed as RB cover. Leaving GT to be 3rd choice behind Yacob and Mulumbu. But these to often get suspended and niggly injures as they are so combative. So he will be well in the mix.

I really like GT. I love his passing. That through ball (you know the one) was sublime. He deserves, based on his performances, the chance to see what he can do with us. Remember he also played well for us before he got injured.

The signing of the contract under duress. Sounds very agent driven. No one signs contracts when they don't want to. Remember the agent makes £££ when players move around. Sounds like he's been badly advised when speaking to The Mirror in my opinion.

Top post.

I've not been trying to having a dig at Derby - without provocation. However I feel we (WBA) are up for giving Thorne a chane in the first team but he does need to work for it. I was disappointed with his quotes from the Mirror because I feel we did him give a chance - minus injuries we played him - once he did get injured we offered him a chance to get match fit (and a new and improved contract). The whole signing a contact under duress I find unlikely. if that IS the case he surely wouldn't sign it. We stuck by him through his injuries. For him to play with us now I wouldn't mind an apologie for his comments but I'm sure that wont be coming.. Either way good luck in the future.

Like i say, i think its agent driven.

It also worth mentioning just how terrible our season was last year. Not just on the pitch but off it. The dressing room was a bad place full of cliques and player revolts. Our statistics guy coaching footballers which they all rebelled against. It was a mess. Rudderless and no direction.

We often get beaten with the almost relegated/3 points off relegation/17th stick, but we really do look at that as a positive. We had a season where EVERYTHING went wrong. Form, off the pitch headlines, players with attitudes, coaching set up all wrong, fans not happy. not ONE positive. And yet still, we survived. We crawled over the line.

After a season like that, i wouldn't want to play for us.

But 11 players have departed, the lawyer that was in charge of transfers has moved back to being a lawyer and we actually have a football guy in charge of the football stuff (Burton), New Head coach coming in. Chairman has said he is going to take ownership of last season and it won't happen again, that he's not going to sit back but will take leadership. All just words but so far this summer, signs are good.

I think next season will be better. 11th, 10th, 8th, 17th shows that last season bucked the trend.

Really? So you think you will be back to finishing 8th, 10th or 11th? Your club is in an awful position to be quite honest. The three that have just gone up are no pushovers. Two have money to spend. I look at teams like Sunderland, Villa and Swansea and say they had bad one off seasons. I am afraid your season objective will be trying to stay up. If you think otherwise you are deluded.

Surely the WBA owner is backing himself into a corner.

If Thorne stays with them and is fit, but is kept languishing in the sticks, just for spite, then they must be breaking some law.

Not breaking a law, but it's a poor business strategy. He's throwing away a couple of million just to spite someone. I highly doubt that'll happen though, this is just the negotiation process. £3million and everybody wins
