I remember playing fester in the "Milk Cup" back in the eighties under Cox when we were third division and they were top flight (but on their way down i think).

Game was over two legs, we beat them 2-1 at home and then drew 1-1 there. We took about seven thousand fans and sang the classic "we are derby, we are derby, super derby, super rams, we are derby, super derby, we are derby super rams" from about twenty minutes in right through to the end including half time. It absolutely destroyed fester's fans and their players, it was simply incredible. Fester fans went on the rampage and actually started a riot afterwards.

Great days

Wasn't that the night there was riots going on in Leicester anyway over Thatcher's policies?

The police were stretched with trouble on the estates and the "Baby squad" tried to take advantage....if it was the same night it was a bit dodgy as I recall.....

i take it they won then..

dammit !!

**** floats :(

Haha.....just looked, yeah, they sneaked a 2-1 aet win.

Seriously, I had no interest in whether they won or lost. Normally I'd want them to lose whoever they play but i actually forgot they were playing tonight.

If Lestah had anything about them they will charge a tenner. They would get 20k at least and that would be a decent gate for a third round tie.

Might well have been that the riot was for another reason, certainly nasty enough as i remember but i don't remember anything cracking off until after the game. Proper nasty rioting though
