Boycie
Belper is a nice town in a world Heritage site. Old cotton mill, one of the first river garden with band stand etc, loads of real ale, shops, and home of the world famous Boycie. (subject to availability) It's on the way to Bakewell from Derby, and you go through Matlock bath, and Matlock on the way.

PrivateDerby
Anyone who says there isn't much to do in Derby is clearly mad. I struggled to do what I wanted to do in the city over a long weekend, never mind the County! Your best bet is to buy a Derbyshire book off amazon or summit, have fun mate. Have to say, Belper looks really nice but we've always been bloody going somewhere or other and never got the chance to stop. I'd love to look round the cotton mills (cos I'm into stuff like that) then I'd go and visit that gun shop on the High Street.

Boycie
That gun shop isn't cheap, there's a better one in alfreton on the hill. There's tours around the mill. Very interesting indeed.

BorneoRam
If you're off to Burton you could call in at Repton, famous old school, some of the buildings are quite nice and a couple of decent pubs - Some famous ex-students - Roald Dahl, Jeremy Clarkson, Will Hughes and me. BorneoRam
You! Who says there's no money in farming? Where there's muck there's brass - although to be fair the farm just about breaks even, it isn't the main business and yes me, didn't like it that much though, all a bit stuck up. Just found this, some very interesting stuff. I didn't realise until I saw an ariel picture that the mill site was so big. Going have to find time to visit that. We've been to Cromfords mill, I remember voting for that to be restored on that telly programme and it was. Great to see it put right instead of being left to rot.
