davenportram
Is this the new stand they built about 6 years ago behind the goal. no its the new stand they built to replace the temporary uncovered stand that they had for years down one side of the ground it turns out the new stand is even more temporary. VulcanRam
Just bumping this previously but you guys are due at Blackpool in April, and there's going to be a restriction on your tickets-you'll be only allowed 1,700 at present. Theres a safety issue with the stand that houses away fans and it could be restricted further,as yesterday Leicester fans (and previously Barnsley) had fans ejected for standing and blocking the gangways. The stand keeps collapsing when fans celebrate goals and cheer the team on,and so they're trying to keep the stand open by employing draconian stewarding measures (which one of you guys has suffered previously) If any of you are planning on booking a weekend then you may need to resource tickets in the Blackpool end before booking hotels etc, and if youre going into the away end then be prepared for issues if you've had a pint or two. The corporate side isnt too bad and may be an option if youre stuck, but just keeping you up to date with whats been going on Thanks for the info, the hotel is booked so will keep an eye out for developments. Bloomfield Rd has always been a dump, now it sounds like an unsafe dump. Amazing this can be allowed by the FA in 2013. They should shut the place down. (But only after we've been as I can't get a refund on the hotel!)
Badlands
Restricting tickets to 1700 is going to create more problems than it solves tbh, this game is the only thing left to look forward to this season.
networker1884
So we all agree that Blackpool is a dump and Bloomfield road is a dump, but we're all going, booking hotels and really looking forward to it? Wtf is wrong with us?
ladyram
Cos it's a good dump, it's Blackpool. We make a weekend of it. It's better than Watford anyway. Now that was a 1st class dump.
derbydan
The stand is shocking barnsley, Millwall & Cardiff fans have all gone through it this season don't know how they can keep getting away with it shoddy dangerous stand, abysmal, pitch an absolute joke & thats before you even start talking about then stewarding ect probably have more money in the coffers than most championship clubs but the owners are tight as a nuns chuff! I think they should be docked points it'll soon jolt them into taking proper action
ladyram
Dan, you mean fans have actually 'gone through' as in fell through the floor of the stand? Is that right?
eddie
Anyone else spending some of the weekend in the Grosvenor casino? For anyone who does, please note that people are not admitted to the casino wearing football shirts (I fell foul of that one before but luckily my B&B was only a couple of hundred yards away). Also, Coral Island now has its own walk-in casino.

That could be an option if you dont fancy the allure of the South Shore pubs! The missus and I make about 4 trips to Blackpool every year - the South Shore pubs are truly awful. To tell the truth, the only pub we ever drink in (apart from the casino) is the Pump and Truncheon. They've usually got a decent supply of Belgian beers (Westmalle, Orval, Rochefort, Duvel etc) and the local draught beers they serve are pretty good too. Plumbs
Why hasn't it been shut? I don't get it. Its mainly because they would have great difficulty in housing away fans as the North (to your right) would have to be split, and its not feasible to do that 50-50 due to the egress tunnels. If they stuck home fans in the away section (as it stands) then there'd be issues with North Stand ST holders etc.plus fans mixing on the car park to the rear. I reckon though after the latest bout of problems that they might well have to close it,or do something drastic to keep their safety certificate. davenportram
They should give away fans the North Stand and move the homes fans to other areas - it might look a bit fuller on the telly that way
