I don’t really know what to say to this. To my mind, it seems very dramatic. Were we ever likely to dominate many games in league 1 where everyone is pretty gash? We have the second best goal difference in the league which does suggest we’ve been dominant relative to the league. What exactly do you think will happen if we replace Warne? We win every game from now until the end of the season 3-0? If we do go up, I don’t doubt next season will be poor because, as you say, we will have worse players. We will probably finish in the bottom half. That’s what happens when you have worse players.

I think he’s mentioned that we have more to give but I think it’s a bit disingenuous to suggest Paul Warne thinks we have played badly all season. I think your struggle to find a manager who would willingly say “that is the best we can be” they’re always gonna waffle on about having more gears

    Well said, mate. Completely agree.

Don’t be silly. We’ve played well in lots of games. Lots of teams have had periods of poor form. Everyone raved about Portsmouth- they were naff over Xmas. Everyone raved about Peterborough- they’ve dropped off the face of the earth. Both Derby and Bolton are currently in a mini slump. Not the end of the world. All will look rosy again on Saturday when we batter Port Vale

Can’t believe the negativity on this thread again. It’s really crazy if you ask me Did everyone think we were going to win every game or play fantastic football in every game? I just don’t understand the levels of expectation
  6. I think there’s a good chance that none of those kids (except Bradley) will play many minutes for the rest of the season. Probably a decent bet that they will largely end up plying their trade well below the premier league None of them actually did anything to suggest they’re actually good. They just ran around and were played out of necessity my point being I don’t think it’s fair to use as a representation of how many youth players should be brought through at any club (That said, I do think Warne could make more use of the academy than he has this season)
  7. Not the Top 20 podcast briefly questioned why Sibley hasn’t kicked on since being the star of Derby’s “fabled 2019 youth team”.
  8. I just hope that some are considered future first team material and we actually see some debuts in the coming years as the academy emerges from the ashes of admin
  9. Emil Riis currently plays for Preston. Callum Guy has been very impressive in the last few seasons, albeit mostly in League 2 Arguably Morgan Whittaker has gone on to show us he’s worth more than we thought but the club might argue selling him was a good option at the time. Can't think of any other obvious ones tbf
  10. I think until my dying day, I will be saying that Louie Sibley has the potential to be a top top attacking midfielder. I think that’s largely due to the Millwall game and watching him boss it at U18 level No amount of anonymous performances in the EFL will change my opinion
  11. Maybe their focus was Cashin and Bird and, now they’re resolved, they’ll focus on Sibs and Tommo I do vaguely remember Warne discussing it very early in the season and was surprised to hear him say something like “sibs knows that if he performs we can have that conversation” (re a contract) and will be shocked if they don’t try and re-sign him. Like I said previously, excellent player still full of potential even if he hasn’t reached the level of Cash and Bird
  12. Yeah and I still think they can be really good championship players. Both only 22. Would be silly to allow them to leave. Exactly the sort of players we would want the club to sign ie young with some pedigree and lots of potential
  13. Not heard anything about Sibley being offered a contract 🤔 same for Thompson Pretty sure they’re both up in 2024. Be surprised if we didn’t offer them terms
  14. Feeling positive. Stevenage are dreadful. No need for Collo as we don’t need hold up play for a game we’ll see most of the ball. 5-0 derby
  15. Morgan Whittaker now joint top scorer in the championship 👏

I actually think Exeter were a really good endorsement for Warne’s more pragmatic style last night Played lovely football right up to our third and were then clueless. I think, at this level, it’s really hard to find players who are going to pass it through a tight defence. At any level really.

We’re 46th in the football league. Outrageous with this squad. Warne out Let the mental gymnastics on other threads begin…
  19. Is there a reason they’re completely ignoring CBT 🤔
  20. For some reason I went to see Exeter play Forest Green last season and they were amazing. I tipped them (in my own head, nobody actually asked my opinion) for play offs this season and was secretly very pleased with myself. They’ve been much worse than all that so let’s hope we batter them
  21. Feeling good today. 3-0 Bird Collins Cashin header
  22. Really gripping. Thought the first one the cops were all horrific but the second one I was totally on the cops’ side and thought none of the incidents warranted any discipline How that lady thought police officers would know her son had a brain bleed from him saying he had a headache, I’ll never know 🤔
  23. In fairness, very easy to criticise in hindsight. Most people, me included, seemed to think he was definitely worth a punt given his quality
  24. Food for thought. I sincerely hope the lack of debuts this season (in the league) is due to admin and the loss of players
  25. I’ll leave it there. We clearly fundamentally disagree about Warne and the players. I think they’ve done well in the circumstances
