  1. As in "given what he did in the Burnley match, he is well capable of doing something similar in the Barnsley match".
  2. I am referring to how he "did" for us in the away match at Burnley during Stevie Mac 1. Martin was tripped in the area, but we put the ball in the net anyway. He disallowed the goal and booked Martin for diving, so instead of going 2 - 1 up, we went down to 10 men and lost 2 - 1. Burnley leap-frogged us and got into the automatics, while we had to go to Wembley. Given the run in, if we had stayed ahead of Burnley we woud have stayed in the automatic places until the end of the season. So Madley cost us promotion. eEs I know we should have won at Wembley, but we shouldn't have had to.
  3. Barnsley 1 Derby 3, Madley goes off injured with a pulled muscle after only 10 minutes!
  4. You do remember his performance against us in the away match at Burnley during Stevie Mac 1?
  5. Bobby Madley will screw us over and as a result Barnsley will pip us to the automatic promotion spot.
  6. We as a club ought to be all over this in the media citing Madley’s incompetence and clear bias against us. We won’t, of course, but we are very likely to pay a heavy price for this appointment. It is perhaps a good job I didn’t get a ticket for this match. Almost certainly, as with Burnley, we are likely to see Barnsley get into the automatic promotion places at our expense as a direct result of Madley’s decisions.
  7. Even when he scores or provides an assist, he still gets busted off. "All we are saying, is give him a chance", to quote a rather famous person.
  8. I felt Nyambe, who had played well went off the boil early in the second half, for example he kept trying long clearances or passes, but ended up spooning the ball out for throw ins, and did look tired. He did his job, and did it well - as with the whole team. I am loving getting to the final whistle and not feeling that anybody has played poorly! Long may it continue!
  9. On reflection, the somewhat toothless display in the first half was part of the plan. We set up to give Stevenage absolutely nothing, and it almost worked, with the only real threat being the shot which Wildsmith saved. The other chance was a deflection. I feel that we did actually play pretty well, despite creating virtually nothing on goal. Solid may be a good way to describe it. I wanted changes earlier on in the match, as most people probably did, Sibley for Nyambe who looked pretty shot ("gassed out" being the Warnese words for it!) in th second half. But Smith coming on first was the catalyst because it changed how we played the midfield. So could it be that Paul Warne is becoming a master tactician?
  10. Fair comment, my good sir! Because this thread has been running since October, I hadn't read back from the beginning, so your original starter had slipped my mind! Also: to the critics of Louie who keep referring to a succession of managers not giving him a decent run; he was actually brought into the 1st team by Cocu, who did give him room to express himself, hence the excitement at the time. The next manager was Rooney who throttled the flamboyance out of him. It may have been to get his fiery nature under control, but I suspect there was more. Maybe Rooney saw him as a number 10, but was also very keen on Max Bird, who had the potential to play the Number 10 role, so maybe Rooney was trying to create room for Max at Sibley's expense, even though he used Bird at CDM. Admittedly this is conjecture as I try to come up with a reason why Rooney would effectively break the lad. And then there is Paul Warne, who has done little more than prat him about. So Sibley has only had 3 first team managers to contend with, one who blooded him, one who had personal issues and one who doesn't seem to know how to get the best out of what is available to him. And yes, that last statement might mean that I had better go and get myself a tin hat. Hey ho!
  11. Given the brick ends that keep getting thrown at Sibbers on here, it is not obvious that it is a joke, and looks very similar to a brick end.
  12. While Hourihane and Barkhuisen keep getting opportunities thrown at them by the bucket load. Actually, as this sort of topic has rumbled on since Rooney's days here, I have actually said if he still doesn't come up with the goods after a decent run in his best position, then I will be happy to see him go. I'm still waiting, as is Louie Sibley. But it still might be better for him to move on to a club who will actually want to get the best from him.
  13. The previous manager who started the rot was Wayne Rooney, who stifled the lad, let alone just mess him about. Because of the lack of a decent run in a stable position Sibley isn't so much failing to reach his potential, more that he is taking time to overcome the damage done to him. Curiously Warne put himself across as a people person, yet a little bit of the tender care would almost certainly have got the lad going again, yet the personal touch seems conspicuous by its absence. Ringo Star knew this was going to happen when he released "All we are saying, is give him a chance"!
  14. Good Grief! Stevenage away!!! When we totally ignored midfield and simply hoofed the ball, thinking that if you kick the ball higher than the opposition it will get you the win. That was one of the matches when the fans turned on Paul Warne prior to the start of the good run. So how on earth can Sibley stake his claim to the AM role when the rest of the team were under instruction to not give the ball to him?
  15. Yes, but even when he has scored, and in one match he scored two, he has ended up on the bench or dumped right out of the squad for the next match. How can you "make the shirt your own" when the boss keeps ripping it off your back?
  16. Have you watched Derby recently? Just how many red cards has Sibley had? If I recall correctly, it is just tone one, which was rescinded because the player he was supposed to have hospitalised was actually trapping Sibley's foot between his legs to make it look like Sibbers had kicked out. Oh, and while you are looking, check his current card count. It is pretty darned low, because he has calmed down tremendously over the last couple of seasons. Adams is more likely to get carded because he has a more aggressive, combative style of play, and was maybe somewhat enthusiastic during his first couple of games, but may have settled down now.
  17. It is, but we don’t give him either of them!
  18. Its the same old arguments. I agree that Sibley hasn’t developed his full potential, but in terms of having the chance to, his path to success had been littered with trip wires at every stage. UnlikeTom Lawrence who in each match where he played well was then given 6 freebies. Similar with Hourihane, who has shown flashes of talent here or there (as has Sibbers, of course). But unlike those two, the only positions where Sibley hasn’t played are CDM and goalkeeper. In his best position he has only managed a maximum of 40 - 45 minutes, and apart from Left Back all he gets are bit parts. We did the same to Weimman. He is a central striker, so when he got the chance to play, it was stuck out on the wing, where everybody decried his lack of goals. But when he went to Bristol, they played him down the middle and funnily he started scoring for fun. 🙄 Despite the fantastic run we are on and the great stats, Derby County make a habit of wasting the potential of the players we have, with young Louie being a case in point.
  19. I noticed the Alan Hinton, who never liked the "rough stuff" had a virtually clean shirt on despite that bog of a pitch!
  20. My only disappointment was that the Sibley goal wasn't scored in the 91st minute - the ref finally booked their keeper for timewasting and suggested a minute would be added on, and I felt it would be deliciously ironic for the winner to be during that one minute of added on time. Dammmmm! It's Warne's fault for bringing Sibley too early!
  21. Safe standing hasn’t affected the atmosphere because we all stood up all match anyway. All it has done is take up a load of space in front and behind each person.
  22. At least Steve Evans can’t fall over. He’ll get so far then his belly, hips or backside will hit the floor and prop him there at 45 degrees in any direction, stuck there like a semi-cast sheep!
  23. Some observations: Adams didn’t het a yellow card, while still playing his normal game - that in itself is worth celebrating. As is the rare fact that afik no Derby players were booked. The only surprise is that the fat man didn’t blather on about biased match officials! The fans were stupendous today, and were loud from the off, and really got going in the second half. We had to be loud and get behind the team, but the Collins loss has put us into a “backs to the wall” situation, which may have had something to do with it. I didn’t think Stevenage showed as much “thug” football as I was expecting, but their dark side is still there. It took what seemed like 30 or 40 cynical/professional fouls before a card was shown. The ref actually did fairly well, but did start giving a lot if soft decisions in Stevenage's way in the second half, almost as though he had received his half-time efl email! A couple these soft decisions close together just before Corey Smith got the fans backs up and up went the volume and Derby started to look a little more adventurous. The goal wasn’t just Sibbo stabbing at a loose ball. Louie stepped back from his marker and signalled to Nate who duly obliged, and just one bit of skill got us 3 points instead of one. For such a “war of attrition”, it is the best I have felt at the end of match for ages. Thank you, you Rams!
