Last season Northants scored 156 and we chased it down with 5 balls to spare. So its a competitive total but closer to 180 would have been nice.

Pleased to see Wagstaff in the squad. He's been doing alright in the seconds games including taking wickets with his leg spin.

Watching DuPavillon on the stream today, he's a much better white ball bowler than the red ball from first impressions.
Obviously,  it was only the seconds but Leicestershire had first teamers in like we did and Ben Mike was going berserk on his way to an unbeaten century but DuPavillon tied him up with some good “death” bowling at the end. As he's here on the advice of the captain as well, he’s probably going to play.
Donald had the gloves today so I wonder if they are looking at that and dropping Guest out - wouldn’t be a fan of that.

I find the ECB's logic odd in that they want pitches to produce test batsmen, then fine Somerset for producing wickets conducive to spin. Leaving aside the sportsmanship aspect, that is precisely what any Indian groundsman will be doing whenever we tour. Surely learning to survive and prosper on such tracks is a valuable skill to learn?
Do you think it has anything to do with advances in technology and better resources? The ground staff are incredible in that they can produce a beautiful flat track in adverse conditions, when in decades past the weather leading up to certain games would've made such a feat impossible.

It seemed to start a few years ago with the ECB complaining about low scoring games and wanted better batting pitches in the championship, because that would help produce test batsmen (ECB logic) so we ended up with these pitches that never do a huge amount and go completely dead after a couple of days.
I know Derbyshire and Glamorgan are two clubs who have been vocal about trying to get some life back in their pitches but without being an expert on the subject, that may need digging up the entire square and starting again. Which obviously is costly so clubs will be reluctant to rush into that.

Another half century in the game for Brooke Guest, so its been a good outing for him.
David Lloyd was out for 49, caught behind off the spinner, and he didn't look too pleased with the decision. Couldn't tell either way from the replay.
Once again the likelihood of getting 20 wickets always looked remote. It’s not just a Derbyshire thing, it’s problem for basically everyone except Surrey and Essex (and this season Sussex) it seems. When Day 4 of a cricket pitch is the easiest time to bat, something is wrong.
