CongletonRam got a reaction from europia in Can anyone actually name a single improvement Warne has done since arriving?
    Bigger picture.
Derby County F.C has been a very poorly run club for the last 20 years and fans have to accept that it WILL take time to get back to glory days, (albeit I am of the opinion that our great clubs glory days at best would be a club challenging at the top end of the Championship).
It actually saddens me when I hear fans being hyper critical of Warne, some almost suggesting his time is running out. I cannot accept that is anything other than a small percentage who think this.
Constructive criticism is great and wow, there is SO much to be critical about with the current side and the manner in which we (try to) play.
Warne has to be given time, and I am talking another 2 seasons. We are under new ownership and we need stable management. As a shrewd business decision, Clowes wouldn't (and couldn't financially) sack Warne unless results take a huge downturn. We are playing like a bottom 5 club, but we are somewhat fortuitously managing not to lose.
I cannot actually believe that I am speaking up for Warne, as the football being offered is simply dreadful. Lethargic, defensive, predictable. So, I forsee a season where we are challenging for a top 6 spot, but for that to happen, the football has to improve.
I will be right behind Warne and I firmly believe that if we as a fanbase were all right behind him, it would make his job easier. We can play a part in changing the fortunes of our club.

CongletonRam got a reaction from JuanFloEvraTheCocu'sNesta in Wiegman - managing the England men's team
Why not? Her gender is by and large irrelevant.
If she's good enough and proves herself yet again to be a winner, then yes, I'm all for it.

CongletonRam got a reaction from Andicis in Jordan Rhodes - gone to Blackpool
I would prefer that Chris Martin comes back to the club over Jordan Rhodes. They are similar age and their records are not dissimilar over the second half of their careers.
Neither have done much for 7 years. Their careers have stalled somewhat
In that time, their (very average) records are comparable:
Jordan Rhodes 212 (games).  38 (goals).  (5.57 strike rate)
    Chris Martin 171   32  (5.34 strike rate)
    Conor Washington 218   43. (5.06 strike rate)
    James Collins 308   110  (2.8 strike rate)
Collins really sticks out for his superior record. Get the ball to him and he will finish. Even the much maligned CW has a better record than Rhodes over that time period.
Warne has intimated that whoever he buys will be a rough diamond and represent something of a gamble. I don't think the need for a striker is as pressing as many make out. For me, we need creativity.
