Him and his missus are a waste of advertising space, average footballer that was a half decent deadball specialist, his missus gets a CBE for services to fashion, she couldn't design clothing if her life depended on it, fancy spending £5m on removing all early footage of her piss poor singing audition with chronic acne for the Spice girls, brand Beckham sums up what's wrong with society.

Ken Dodd did.

The cynic in me thinks everything Beckham does these days is geared towards getting this knighthood either him or his Mrs craves (I can't help thinking her being Lady Victoria would be right up her street) and by that I mean last week the Daily Mail ran a story about David rushing to help an elderly lady who collapsed outside Harrodds. That might well be true but it's the third Good Samaritan act I've read he's been involved in "just passing by"

I'm not bothered either way if he gets his knighthood, he deserves it more than some sycophant civil servant or political party donor (for me) but maybe less than some others. I mean I'd rather Charlie Watts got one before Beckham, anyone who can be in a band with Keith Richards for 50 years and still be sane deserves one.

I'm surprised that people don't twig that the real motivation for celebrities doing high profile charity work is for the positive benefit to their image - the Diana effect. Its a bit sick but they do it for their own career motives. charities have become awash with money. Some seem to have lost sight of their real purpose and highly paid executives focus instead on the fund raising potential of celebrity endorsements.

As for the hours system. Sir Jimmy Saville? Sir Elton john? Sir rod stewart? Whatever next...Sir Noddy Holder?

Its a weird world in la la land.

As an ordinary bloke from Chaddesden who received an honour for 25 years of British aid work in developing countries mainly in Africa, helping the poorest people to get proper water, medical assistance, justice, education etc and who was arrested and thrown into prison by the secret police in Sierra Leone and caught malaria in Malawi and lived in pretty poor conditions for long periods, this latest Beckham revelation on top of other celebrities being honoured, really rankles.

Well done you.

Lets keep count

February 2011

David Beckham has been dubbed a "Good Samaritan" after he stopped and helped a man push his car after it broke down with his family inside at the side of a busy road.Father-of-two Paul Long, 46, phoned into Richard Bacon on BBC Radio Five Live to tell him about his surprise 'Good Samaritan'.

He said: "I was taking my kids to school this morning when the car packed up as we approached a busy roundabout over the A10. We were in the middle of a very busy roundabout. Cars were buzzing past and I had two kids in the back.

"I had my two kids in the back but no one stopped, no one came to help.

"But after 10 minutes I saw a car had pulled over into a layby in the distance. Its hazard lights came on.

"A figure got out, wearing a hoodie, this sort of slipped down and as he got nearer it became apparent to me it was David Beckham.

"He asked if we were ok and I said 'could you give us a push over to the side?' which he duly did. Someone else came to help as well.

"Then he asked again if we were ok and as he walked away I said 'Thanks David, I love you'.

February 2016

The former footballer, proud dad and all-round beautiful man proved he’s a good samaritan in February when he surprised a paramedic and their elderly patient with a cup of tea served by his own fair hand.Catherine Maynard was treating a pensioner who’d suffered a fall on the cold streets of Central London street on Monday (1 February) when Becks appeared with a round of hot drinks. Catherine told reporters: ‘All of a sudden, I looked up and saw someone who looked like David Beckham walking past us. He said hello and got in his car. I said to the man I was treating, ‘I think that was David Beckham’.

‘Ten minutes later, he came back with a cup of coffee for me and a tea for the patient.’

‘We were both very amused, and flattered. It was awful cycling around in the cold and I couldn’t believe it when he came back with some hot drinks – I was so chuffed.’

He even parked his car by a traffic island to block moving cars from getting too close to the lady.

A spokesman for the London Fire Brigade said: “At around 16.45 a fire engine was flagged down to an elderly woman who had tripped when crossing the road and fell and hit her head.

“David Beckham was parked nearby and had already given her a bottle of water. He assisted and when the ambulance arrived was thanked and told he could move on.”

January 2017

DAVID Beckham proves he is as kind-hearted as he is good looking after he came to aid of an elderly woman who had collapsed. The hunky star was driving through Kensington when he spotted the lady who had fallen over and he stopped to offer his assistance. The woman had fallen by the road and hit her head just as the evening rush hour began.A passing fire engine was flagged down while an ambulance was called – only for Becks to join the crowd and offer the woman a bottle of water.

Becks stopped his car and went to her rescue when he saw what happened

His heroic efforts didn’t go unnoticed with one woman tweeting: “Was helping an old lady who fell over on my lunch break and guess who drives up to help? David Beckham. That’s who. What a gentleman.

Beckham was a great footballer IMO and always seems to be a steady and dedicated ambassador for the country and football.

That really is as far as I can take my praise for him.

The rest of me sees him as a vain, vacuous, image obsessed individual and I never have and never will be able to relate on the same level to someone like that so i'm out.

In addition his wife, without wanting to get personally vindictive, is of exactly the same character only the difference between him and her is that she has never had any identifiable talent.

They are a celebrity family and i'm sure their kids will grow up and excel in the exact same detached celebrity world which nowadays only seems to exist for people with no talents and it's success perpetuated by celebrity followers with limited cerebral activity. Anyone who has ever purchased a Beckham 'fragrance' take a bow.

Really good footballer, seems a decent bloke but there are thousands upon thousands of people throughout this country who deserve knighthoods ahead of the likes of him.

In addition I also have an issue with parents who have kids then pay nannies to look after them for the most part of their childhood. I find this unacceptable.

It's ok being photographed out with the kids for the day at a theme park like some happy family but who does the dirty work and who gives the emotional support? To be fair though I have seen pics in sepia of Becks closely holding his baby whilst he is proudly showing off his branded embossed briefs range purely by coincidence of course that his distressed baby suddenly needs some attention and Becks happens at the same time to be wearing these very same briefs.

I also don't understand why he would want a cameraman in his kids room........................

Ah! I get it now!

Quids in Becks!!

Didn't we have this problem with Peter Andre, wasn't he voted for "father of the year" and then unfortunately the nanny chirped up about his fatherly skills or lack of them for not seeing his children for months at a time, obviously she was removed from her job due to gross negligence (telling the truth)

The weird thing is that celebrities have got so much money that they could afford to take years off or even work part time once they have kids. It's not as if they are going to be on the breadline. It's more about self. I want kids but I don't want to look after them. is exactly what they are saying yet the media pour scorn on families on council estates trying to do their best and get by on next to nothing. At least some (not all) are there for their kids and actually WANT to be there for their kids. Presumably that's why you have kids? To be with them and enjoy the time with them. Ok so not all of parenting is fun but it's a journey. Many of these celebrities only begin this journey when their kids are grown up. By then it's too late.

Thoughts on his leaked emails?

What leaked emails? I read certain papers and watch the news and either skip straight past celebrity stories or turn the TV over when Celeb stories come on.

Infact please don't answer my question because I could give a toss. They're all in it for themselves and anyone that needs the news to tell them this needs their bumps feeling.

I have always liked David Beckham, he usually does come across as a fairly decent bloke despite the media making several attempts over the years to discredit him....

There was the Rebecca Loos 'affair' debacle that only the media came out of looking bad, they wanted the beckhams to bite and they didnt, they just went about their business, who knows if it was true or not but it did not tarnish his reputation.

Then dont forget the constant attempts to suggest he was looking at other women, how many times were pictures published showing him looking at cheerleaders etc? Ok come on...how many of us wouldnt have had a crafty glance???

Now this....maybe he has said something, maybe he does have a desire to be knighted i dont know, he certainly doesnt come across as fake when he is doing his charity work so he is a very good actor if hes only doing it for recognition.

I do think todays celebrities receive awards far too easily, comeon victoria beckham getting an obe for services to fashion??? whats that all about? Andy Murray being knighted?? ok he's is a fantastic tennis player but seriously knighted at this point in his life is crazy..

What I find more appauling is that the media is happy to condone his emails being hacked by publishing their content. Surely hacking someones private emails is illegal? To publish their content is supporting illegal activity too?

This will blow over.
