Helgusson
Got chatting to another rams fan in exile here in London, and we were reminiscing about Branko Strupar – who provided us with a few real highlights. A class finisher. I recall being at an Everton game the season we went down that we lost 4-3 I think – a real old ding dong battle, and remember he scored two, which to my mind were truly great goals, one volley, one outrageous header. But nowhere, nowhere can I find any footage of them. HenryKrinkle
Scored the first prem goal of the millenium against Watford at PP Some great free kicks too - Ben Davies should have a look at em! He was also voted the 2nd sexiest man in Belgium at some point...behind JCVD I think Tulisa was 3rd.
Scooter
I remember that game vividly, 10 years have since flown by. 'http://www.dcfcfans.co.uk/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/ohmy' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':o' /> 'http://www.dcfcfans.co.uk/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/ohmy' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':o' /> I was lucky at the time to be sitting in the East stand level with the edge of the pen box, so i had a great view of two of what were maybe the best goals i think i've ever seen live. Gregory put Strupar on when we were chasing the game, everytime he scored they went up the other end and got another, think we had a d**k head goalie that day called Foletti, but Strupars goals were world class absolute brilliant. He'd played against us (England) in the Euros before he came to Derby and he looked awesome then, i reckon Jim Smith thought he pulled off a bit of a blinder picking him up for £2m from Ghent. Anybody remember his agents interview on radio Derby that went out live?? 'http://www.dcfcfans.co.uk/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> 'http://www.dcfcfans.co.uk/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':D' /> I also heard when his contract came to an end that Pickering wanted to keep him on a pay to play contract. Wouldn`t have been a bad call.
AucklandRam
Pretty sure that game against Everton was David Moyes 2nd game in charge. The bus full if Belgians who came to watch Strupar were funny. They'd throw a load of toilet roll on the pitch when we scored. Nobody told them when he got injured and they carried on coming for a couple of games. I think we signed Strupar after missing out on Eidur Gudjohnsen, Chelsea put in a late bid.
BondJovi
One of the things I remember about Strupar was on MOTD, I think it was Hansen who went on for ages about how good his technique in striking a ball was. I do not know the match. But it made me think we had something of a star in our team. Then he suffered injuries 'http://www.dcfcfans.co.uk/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':(' />
PrivateDerby
Anyone remember his supporters from Belgium in the lower tier of the Toyota? Used to love how every time he kicked the ball the THUD echoed round the ground, and what a name!
PrivateDerby
And when we tried to start "Super duper, Branko Strupar" 'http://www.dcfcfans.co.uk/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> It was never gonna work! DesertRam
That volley he scored was unbeleivable, seem to remember that it never touched the groung before he hit it, think it was from a corner or free kick but went like a rocket into the goal, it was shown for days after on the tv.
