Which places would you love to visit the most?

Would love to do all 50 States of the USA, done a conference the last 3 years which is ongoing in Nevada which lasts 3 days so we often go out as a family and take a hoilday for 2 weeks but its not enough to even scratch the surface of such a vast country.

I've only been to Mumbai in India and hated it, don't know why but was relieved when I was on the flight back to good ol' Blighty after a week there.

No real interest in going back to the far east which harks back to my student days. Not a great fan of big cities, always felt big cities/capital cities fail to live up their hype, the only exception being Berlin which I think is great for a short break.

I'd love to drive/trek some of the Ozzie outback. The problem with most of these ideas/dreams is the time required to do them in full (as well as expense obviously); I've no real interest in pitching up for a week or two in places you need at least a month to get an appreciation of. The time to do this is when you're young, most of what I would want to do now is totally unrealistic with family life.

Where have you been from Nevada? Have you done any of the national parks?

National parks wise I've been to the Great Basin, Grand Canyon, Yosemite Cali and Guadalupe mountains Texas. I've travelled down to Texas through Arizona and New Mexico and I've straddled into California. Other than that, I've covered about a further 10 states, mostly from NY so most of the smaller bunched up states in the North-East of the country. I've done Florida as well which is about all I've done down south. I'd like to do route 66 which is doable I think and that would allow me to tick off a few more. What states have you done mate?

If you're in Nevada, I would recommend Bryce canyon National park and Zion Canyon National park, both in Utah

Tar chap, I wanted to do Utah this time round, we're due to go out in a couple of months but got a 1 year old now with us so bit worried about a lot of travelling, I tend to draw up a rough itinerary beforehand so I'll look to see if I can incorporate them.

If you are going, I can recommend some hotels etc. May is the best time of year to go if you have children. Warm but not hot, though it should be fairly dry, the melting snows and april rains will mean the rivers and waterfalls will be good.

I don't know what budget you are on, but this place is one of the best hotels i've ever stayed in, and for a mid-range price.

That is right up our street, really appreciate it, bookmarked. What views! We tend to mix it up with accomodation (otherwise you end up paying a small fortune as you probably know) but we do like a bit of luxury for a few nights here and there.

  • 1 year later...

Done all 3 over the past 3 weeks.

Prague is the seediest, full of strip clubs, drugs and dirt cheap booze (1 euro - 2 euro). Been twice and i'm off back in November, love the place.

Krakow is the cheapest for booze, we were paying around 80 cents-1 euro for a pint. Not as much in the way of strip clubs/brothels/gambling but we were only there for 2 nights so didn't really have a proper explore.  Also you can factor in the possibility of a trip to Auschwitz, as it is only around 40 minutes away, if you want a bit of culture.

Budapest is the roughest.Loads of great pubs and clubs, full of drugs and strip clubs with very similar prices as Prague. Locals however aren't that friendly with groups of English, we got mugged and had a knife pulled on us so be a bit more wary if you go there.

All 3 are cracking cities.

How can you say Budapest is a cracking city when that happened to you?!

That would have ruined it for me personally.

Sweet, cheers.

Prague sounds tempting now, being a seedball at heart.

Budapest looked better for partys etc rather than pubs/strip clubs etc but what the f*ck do I know, both look good.

I'd agree that Budapest is a bit more clubbing than pubbing, main problem with that is 80% of the places tend to be blaring out eurotrash after 11pm. Still it has a reputation for one of the best party cities in Europe so a bit of research and you will probably find places not playing constant repeats of Tiesto.

Can't go wrong with Prague. We stayed here on our last visit, top location, dirt cheap and fairly decent.

Well we were buying weed, pissed out of our faces, off a group of tooled up gypsies. Not our most sensible moment tbh and only cost us £30 and a few heart palpation's.

That looks the ticket, £9.99 a person per night on the search I just done

Cheers for the info, reckon you've just swayed it in Pragues favour.
