Geriatram
In the telegraph this morning Nigel Clough is saying leicester have a squad good enough for a top six place. Now the last time I looked at the table both us and them have the same points from the same number of games,I am going tonight hoping that we will get three points, which will take us above them and nearer to the top six and them further away.Surely the message coming from Pride Park should be we want a top six spot instead of or as well as them,if not we might as well throw in the towel and not bother. p.shilton
Hi and welcome- don't worry mate the powers that be will move it to the correct place. Leicester should definitely be contenders with the money they have spent- they have a much stronger squad than ours and strength in depth also. Even if Derbys first team were good enough we don't have enough back up to provide a sustained challenge over a season
Guest
One club is on the up, the other is treading water at best, hopefully we will win tonight, but NC is probably getting his post match talk ready, they spent more money than us......if we had their striker up front....we nearly scored from that corner.....we competed for 7.5 minutes each side of half time, Tom is going to put it on the agenda to play quarters and have time outs introduced so we are on a level field, I missed anything ? rynny
Could it be mind games? They have a squad of top 6 but aren't there. Try and make them complacent a little? Is that why they haven't been winning games? Of course it could just be nigels negative attitude that he seems to adopt around this time of the year (any month that has 28 days or more)
seanyram
All depends which Derby County turn up on the night. we tend not to win most weeknight games. Leicester are the favourites to win tonight as they do without doubt have the better squad on paper, then again this was said about West Ham, Leeds & Hull. McRamFan
Fester should be tearing up this league, however they are not, though they seem to have hit a patch of form just as ours stopped. I think they might do what we did that year when Igor came in and we went on a great run.
Stive Pesley
Come on! Nigel’s interview in that piece is a clear wind-up. What he’s saying is that they’ve spent millions more than us, changed managers at will, put a wage bill in place that is unsustainable, buying expensive players who are proven quality and yet they are STILL on the same points as us. On paper they should obviously be top six, but they’re not – he’s not so subtley reminding us that spending money is not the answer. The most telling line is "It would be nice to have a little bit of what they have been spending in the last year or so but we wouldn't swap our club for theirs" As in – if we don’t nake the play-offs then we carry on and continue slowly building – whereas if they don’t get promoted this season or next it’s highly likely that their Thai owners will get bored and withdraw, leaving them in a mess. The Fairplay rules will also come into it So get real - it's not Nigel showing lack of ambition - it's Nigel taking the mick
p.shilton
probably not a good idea to take the mick out of a team that stuffed yours 4-0 a few months ago and did the double over you last season- all three matches without you scoring a goal. The difference being that you are guessing that they would withdraw, whereas what our American owners has done is in the past.
BornBlue
Hello, Leicester fan here in peace. I suspect Clough is just playing mindgames to be honest. Or (as Leeds Ram mentioned), he's cueing up for postmatch. If he says we (LCFC) are fantastic then he shoulders the blame if we beat you; if you beat us, he looks great. Yeah, on paper's no good though, is it? You could together a World XI, but if they can't be bothered to play properly it's a waste of time! We seem to be getting it together a bit now but, unfortunately, it's a bit late.
