Billie Holiday AKA Lady Day. A deeply troubled soul who died way too young in awful circumstances. Not the greatest vocal range or most powerful voice in the world but sings with such emotion that always touches my soul.

Two pieces of classical music, both by Gabriel Fauré.

The first one is the Pavane in F sharp minor, opus 50. This was played by the organist at church prior to my brother-in-law's funeral. He was tragically killed in a hit and run aged 38 and was a good friend even before I started dating my wife, his sister. I'm welling up listening to this music and typing this!

The second one is Pie Jesu from Faure's Requiem, opus 48.

The Requiem was a piece of music we had to study for our O level music. This version is performed in the correct manner by a boy treble rather than a female soprano. I just find this piece of music sends a tingle down my spine whenever I hear it.
