AndyB
Has anything been said by the club about this? He must be attracting a lot of attention and he's only signed until the end of this season. We don't want another good young player to leave or, if he does, to leave without getting full value for him e.g. Tom Huddlestone.
Redshaw_Ram
I have a feeling that if it was going to reach an easy and happy conclusion he would have signed an extension around the same time as O'Brien. This could end in tears...

This could end in tears... Or maybe as he is on his first senior contract, the club have the option to extend it ( it would make sense to have that clause in a young players contract so you have the choice to extend if they are good enough) and they don't want to just extend it but are putting a contract together that will be attractive enough for him to want to stay. Or they are waiting to see if his form continues before taking up the option. Or maybe waiting to see where we finish the season before taking up the option (if there is one)
Redshaw_Ram
I am just going to try and forget about it until January. We'll find out then what our/his intentions are.
clamped
You would have thought with him being a young, bright prospect at the club that we wouldn't be prepared to let him slip through our fingers. I think Glick and co are too sly to allow that to happen.

Cisse
The whole team was poor today. Hendrick will give us a lot to cheer about this season. And the seasons to come.

Definately said it. Also said along the lines of it was DCFC policy to extend the contracts of good up & coming players.
p.shilton
Also said along the lines of it was DCFC policy to extend the contracts of good up & coming players. You would hope that had always been the case- but, this is Derby after all!
NothernRam
DERBY County are looking to extend Jeff Hendrick's contract. The 19-year-old midfielder has started the last eight games and caught the eye with his performances. His current deal has this year and next to run and the club are keen to tie down the Republic of Ireland Under-21 international for longer. Two other young players, Mark O'Brien and John Brayford, have signed new deals in the past two months. "We have a policy at the club of rewarding young players once we have identified that these are the sort of lads we want around," said manager Nigel Clough. "We have done this already with Mark O'Brien and John Brayford – and Jeff will be no different. http://www.thisisderbyshire.co.uk/story-13471673-detail/story.html

bucktwo
on form shown this far could well be more influencial than Bailey, Green etc and certainly wants tying up on a longer deal.

davenportram
Let's see Leacock, Bywater, Green, Pearson, Anderson not played this season and not really missed - should cut the wage bill a fair bit in the summer. Maybe croft too.
