Not overly scientific. Based on the highest number of league starts made in Goal, Defence, Midfield, Attack in a 442 formation.

Three ‘subs’ are those with the next most starts.

Never ceases to amaze me the rapid decline in quality from the mid 70s to the end of that decade.

You can see exactly when The Doc started to do his damage.

From Kevin Hector and Charlie George up front to Gerry Ryan and Charlie George, then Billy Caskey and Roy Greenwood in successive seasons.

Also how Stimac was only a first team regular for one season.

Billy Hughes, nearly a goal every other game doesn’t even make the chart, with just 19 appearances according to Wiki in 1977. I remember being a very gutted 12 year old  when he went.
