Whittingham pens new deal

Cardiff City midfielder Peter Whittingham has put pen-to-paper on a new two-year contract with the club.

The 26-year-old former England Under-21 international will remain with the Welsh side until the summer of 2013 having arrived back in 2007.

Whittingham has been a Bluebirds stalwart since his move from Aston Villa and played an integral part in their play-off push last season.

He scored a remarkable 20 goals in 41 Championship appearances as Cardiff reached the play-off final only to lose out to Blackpool.

The former Burnley and Derby loanee will now be able to focus fully on the current campaign, starting with a home clash with Bristol City on 16th October.

Cardiff are second in the table after an excellent start, having picked up six wins from 10 games so far.

Won the Champions League on Football Manager by any chance? ;)

I've taken more non league clubs to Premiership glory than I care to mention :D

I think it's my ego, I generally think I could go in and actually keep them up  Brian Clough style belief in my own skills ;)
