DontTrustTheDevilInside
Too true and was talking about this the other day. Hate the red dogs but they know how to negotiate a sale. Didn’t even include the 15mill for assombalonga with his dodgy injury record either
Rev
It's amazing how they do it. No wonder they've far surpassed our achievements on the pitch this last decade.
DontTrustTheDevilInside
What is also impressive is how they’ve offloaded unwanted players to fawaz’ other clubs without anyone noticing. Signed some utterly shocking foreign experiments on 3 year deals and then the next year offloaded. Derby Middlesbrough and the like would be paying them off their full contract. And mardarse Gibson has barely said a thing about it
TuffLuff
Quick point that needs to be appreciated Forest have been selling players on to the Prem for nearly 20 years and sell well rounded players that are ready to play prem football. We sell players that we’ve fitted in to a system of how we play. Therefore the buying club essentially need to prepare them for regular top level football. Key example is the Bogle and Cash comparison. Bogle was brought in by Lampard to be an attacking full back. So we improved the attributes he was good at, but we didn’t improve the attributes he wasn’t good at because he came in to do a job. Cash has been able to learn all roles of his position and not had the same pressure placed on him. That’s why there is a discrepancy in price, it’s not that Cash is better but they will need to do less work to get him in the first place. Hughes is another example, we loved him for the job he did at Derby, but Watford have to rebuild him to make him a useful asset. Essentially we’ve maybe missed out by £5-10 million on each sale of our youngsters because we’ve made them valuable to us but not others. Forest are long experienced at getting an asset as valuable as possible. We are getting better at this under Cocu though, hopefully we will see proper returns on Bird, Sibley etc
